Star Wars: Squadrons is Motive Studios and EA’s upcoming space dogfighting game that sports a multiplayer, and therefore fans of course wonder which platforms they will be able to play on, and whether or not they will be able to play with their friends that might be on another console.
That said, if you are looking for a single-player game, Star Wars: Squadrons also up that experience, allowing you to fly in the iconic TIE Fighter and X-Wing of the Star Wars universe. The game plays after the Battle for Endor and players will have access to both sides of the conflict, be it the New Republic or the Empire.
With the game launch rapidly approaching on October 2, and you may be wondering if you can play with your friends - and we've got some quick and easy answers for you!

Will Star Wars: Squadrons be on PS5?
Kind of. There will be no dedicated version for either of the new generation console. The good news is that due to the backwards compatibility of both consoles, you will be able to play Star Wars: Squadrons on your new console once it arrives. We don’t know why EA decided against a dedicated version, but the workaround is a fine enough choice.
Will Star Wars: Squadrons be on Xbox One?
Yes! Just like the Playstation 4, the Xbox One will receive its own version and just like in the case for Sony, backwards compatibility will allow you to play Star Wars: Squadrons on your Xbox Series X.
Will Star Wars: Squadrons be cross platform?
Once again, yes! More than just consoles, there will also be a PC version that will be able to crossplay with all the other consoles. You will also be able to play with a friend on your PS4 if he has an Xbox and vice versa. Given the nature of the game, it might be one of those experiences in which an analogue stick proves to be better than a mouse and keyboard in combat and it will remain to be seen if console players will need additional help against the accuracy advantage of a mouse.
Given the wide range of platforms that Star Wars: Squadrons can be played on, we hope you have your squad(ron) ready to take over space and enjoy one of the freshest takes on the dogfighting genre.
