Redfall drops you into a corrupted town filled with devoted cultists and vampires with powers close to gods. With so many enemies around you at all times, you'll want something close to your chest when the bullets aren't doing the job.

Check out our rundown of how to equip a Stake in the game, and how you can customize it to suit you.

How to equip a Stake

Luckily, guns will come with stakes already equipped to them automatically. If a gun doesn't have a Stake already, like pistols or sniper rifles, that means you can't use a stake with this weapon at all.

You'll always need to have a weapon with a Stake equipped, due to them being required when killing vampires in the game. So, if you do use a pistol or sniper rifle, have a shotgun or rifle with a stake in your secondary slot.

Now that you know how Stakes work, you may want to know how to change Stake skins, as the option is available.

If you want to change a Stake skin, it's a simple process. Here's how to do it:

  • Start by bringing up the inventory screen.
  • Select the 'Loadout' tab.
  • Pick an equipped with weapon with a Stake.
  • Select the 'Stake' box at the bottom of the screen.
  • In the new menu on the left, choose a Stake Mod.

You'll gain more Stake Mods throughout the game, and many can be found through exploration, meaning they'll naturally contribute to you hitting the max level. Make sure to check your inventory often to use the best Stake Mod you have.
