The rumoured Rainbow Six Mobile port is real, as Ubisoft has now officially unveiled the long-rumoured mobile version of Siege. Dropping the Siege subtitle, the game will come to be known simply as Rainbow Six Mobile but make no mistake this is a mobile version of Siege with the same 5v5 round-based, Operater-headed, action. If you are keen to know more, here is everything you need to know about Rainbow Six Mobile, including trailers, gameplay, and more.

Is There A Rainbow Six Mobile: Release Date?

Rainbow Six Mobile has been three years in the making and based on the trailer we saw today, and the subsequent developer blog post, it looks like the game is nearing a full release.

But before that, the developers are looking to do some beta tests with players across the world.

"In the upcoming weeks," reads the development blog. "We will start running the first of many live tests and will be asking for your feedback on how we can improve the game." The announcement comes with no firm details, though fans of other mobile games will know games are usually opened up to certain regions first as the developers stress-test servers and check compatibility across a range of devices.

Players can now pre-register for both Android and iOS, with the developers specifically asking if you have played Call of Duty: Mobile, PUBG: Mobile, and Garena Free Fire in the past. If you want to know how to register for Rainbow Six Mobile - check out our guide.

Having said all this, it is likely that those in beta tests will start getting their hands on the game by the end of April with a full release likely in Q4 2022.

Alongside the announcement of its existence, the developers also shared a trailer that reveals a game very much in the vein of Siege. Dubbed "pre-alpha footage", you would be forgiven for thinking this isn't from Siege itself. Set in the iconic Bank map, the graphics look fantastic for a mobile title and show off Operators, weapons, and even gadgets like the Recon Drone and Breach Charge.

Rainbow Six Mobile has been three years in the making, having been "built from the ground up", and while it shares many similarities with Siege, the developers have stressed that both development teams are entirely separate.

The similarities are there though. It is a "competitive and tactical FPS", where two teams of five Operators - Attackers and Defenders - face off against each other. Many of the Operators will also be entirely familiar to those that have played Siege. For instance, here are the Attackers.

The initial launch of the game will also come with two familiar maps, Bank and Border.

That doesn't mean the game is a 1:1 clone; the developers stress they are an independent team (though they are based in the same Montreal offices) and have designed the game with mobiles in mind.

"We have put a lot of work under the hood to adapt the Siege experience for mobile devices," explained the developers. "This includes an entirely new gameplay control system developed specifically for mobile and extensive optimization of the UI and in-game visual presentation."

Expect more Rainbow Six Mobile news to surface in the coming days and weeks as Ubisoft's hit tactical shooter breaches yet more platforms.
