If you are a returning fan of the Rainbow Six franchise, then you will know exactly how weapons work in Extraction. However, for the uninitiated, unlike series such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, you don't have a full roster of weapons to pick from and apply it to any operator you want. If you want to widen your arsenal a little, you will need to upgrade each operator individually. Each operator has usually two or three additional weapons beyond their starter, which are unlocked across the span of their 10 levels. 

Rainbow Six Extraction Best Guns: M590A1

Immediately throwing out the stealthy side of Extraction we have the M59A1 shotgun. This thing can be rocked by Sledge at level one and Smoke at level six. And while yes, the hope is you'd never need to go loud with a shotgun, when you do this thing has got your back. With one shot kills on most enemies and relatively quick reloads, the M59A1 is perfect for holding down the fort when planting charges or scanning objectives, and is especially useful when b-lining it straight for the extraction point with a tonne of Archaeans on your back. 

Rainbow Six Extraction Best Guns: HK417

This semi-automatic marksman rifle belongs to Lion, and is one of the hardest hitting weapons in the game. You'll want to rid yourself of the silencer for these weapons, and chuck on that vertical grip to maintain a tight recoil pattern, and a whopping 69 damage. While for most enemies a single bullet to the weak spot will do, the HK417 is especially useful when enemy types like the Apex, Rooter, or Tormentor come into the mix, and you can't get the angle on them. You'll have to get Lion up to level 3 to unlock this, so it's a lot of reward for very little effort.

Rainbow Six Extraction Best Guns: MP5

Dipping down in damage a little, the MP5 is a weapon that can be used by two operators. Both Doc and Rook have to reach just level three to unlock this SMG, and while it pulls its punches a little compared to its assault rifle competition, it makes up for it in its high controllable fire rate, at least as long as you keep the vertical grip on. While this might be the ideal choice for those long-ranged headshots, Rook and Doc are useful for backing up the team, and aren't so much front-men themselves. That's why the MP5 stands among the Rainbow Six Extraction best guns. 

Rainbow Six Extraction Best Guns: LMG-E

The first LMG of our Rainbow Six Extraction best guns list, the LMG-E belongs to Ela and is unlocked at level 6. This thing packs a similar punch to most assault rifles, but is especially useful with its 150 round magazine, meaning you can essentially clear out an entire subzone with a single mag if you are precise. But when things go awry, LMGs in general can let you down with their slow reload times. That's where Ela's ability comes in handy as players can fire her proximity stun mines at their feet, giving them up to 10 seconds to reload - at least once you get to the higher level.

Rainbow Six Extraction Best Guns: V308

Another hitter for Lion, the V308 is actually the first gun you'll have access to with this character. This is easily the best assault rifle in the game, let alone among the Rainbow Six Extraction best guns. Like you'll find for most of this list, we always prefer to ditch a silencer in favour of a muzzle brake or compensator - the latter in this circumstance - while keeping our secondary as the silenced option. However, with a high rate of fire and solid damage, the V308 should serve you just fine against those more difficult enemies.
