PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Season 11 goes live on March 31 for PC, and April 8 for console. With it comes some exciting new changes, features, and improvements. Best of all, Paramo has returned, and a brand-new item has been introduced - the Emergency Pickup. The Emergency Pickup allows players to take to the skies to escape the Blue Zone, avoid gatekeeping enemies, and redeploy to safer locations.

Let’s skydive into a detailed overview of this new item and cover some of the other exciting features and improvements coming in PUBG Season 11.

How The Emergency Pickup Works

The Emergency Pickup is a brand-new lootable item that can be carried around in a player’s backpack. The Emergency Pickup is restricted to larger maps such as Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, and Vikendi.

When used, the Emergency Pickup will release a Fulton Balloon. Players will need to hold their ground for a short duration while the Balloon inflates. Once inflated, a signal will be sent off, directing an aeroplane to the user's location.

During this process, up to four players can attach themselves to the Fulton Balloon. The plane takes 60 seconds to arrive at the Emergency Pickup drop spot. Once there, the plane will catch the Fulton Balloon, lifting all attached players into the sky and transporting them toward the centre of the Safe Zone. Players are free to detach themselves from the Fulton balloon at any time during the trip.

The Emergency Pickup comes with a few basic rules:

  • The landing zone must be clear of all obstacles (terrain, vehicles, buildings) and have a clear view of the sky
  • The Emergency Pickup cannot be used before the first circle or after the fourth circle
  • The Emergency Pickup will not work when deployed indoors or on ferries/trains

Emergency Pickup Strategies

Escape The Blue Zone

The Emergency Pickup can be a game-changer when used strategically.

One of the worst feelings in PUBG is when you find yourself deep in the Blue Zone with no clear way out. Sometimes despite your best attempts, there are no vehicles in sight, and you're hundreds of metres from the Safe Zone.

The Emergency Pickup is a new way to address this dilemma. Deploy the Emergency Pickup item and wait for rescue.

Avoid Gatekeepers

Another predicament players can find themselves in is a situation where an enemy team is gatekeeping the zone. Teams like to sit right outside of the Blue Zone and wait to pick off stragglers. This is typically a difficult position to be in.

Now, players can use the Emergency Pickup to dodge these enemies. Hold your position and wait for the aeroplane to lift you up. Enjoy the free ride over the opposition and drop down to safety at your convenience.

Redeploy To A Safer Location

Finally, there are times where your team may have landed too hot. The location is packed with enemies, and the future looks grim. Use the Emergency Pickup as a new lease on life.

Swallow your pride and take the Pickup to safety. Use this as an opportunity to find a new, safer location to post-up and loot.

Dangers Of The Emergency Pickup

It’s important to keep in mind that the Emergency Pickup is not a Get Out Of Jail Free card.

Deploying an Emergency Pickup is not a secretive action. The Emergency Pickup process is obnoxious; enemy players are going to know what you’re up to. Be ready to defend your position and hold off anyone looking to take advantage of your vulnerability.

Once a player has been picked up by the aeroplane, they cannot shoot. Additionally, players will be exposed to mid-air gunfire. While riding on an Emergency Pickup, players are sitting ducks.

While players can release from the Emergency Pickup aeroplane at any time, enemy teams will have their eyes on you. The location you bail to may not be as safe as you hope. Aggressive teams may follow your trail and hunt you as prey.

The Emergency Pickup offers an interesting opportunity to escape sticky situations, but it does come with some potential danger.

Return Of Paramo

The fan-favourite Paramo has finally returned. Paramo was a hit throughout Season 9. To the dismay of much of the community, Paramo was removed from the map pool in Season 10. Now, Paramo is back by popular demand.

Paramo has received a few updates in its return. Paramo changed the game with its randomised terrain. This new version of Paramo will further build on that randomisation.

Additionally, enhanced cover and terrain have been added to some open fields, and item spawn rates have been increased in the Secret Room and Care Package Helicopters.

Paramo was originally reserved for Squads only. This time, players can drop into Paramo in Solos, Duos, or Squads. Paramo is also now playable in Custom Matches.

It may have been a mistake to remove Paramo initially, but now it's back and better than ever.

Ranked Mode Improvements

Season 11 introduces a revamped Ranked Mode.

Ranked Mode seasons will now go on for two months at a time. There have also been minor changes to the way Ranked rewards are distributed as well as an updated Ranked rewards table.

The most exciting change is an all-around spawn rate increase to weapons in Ranked Mode. Weapon spawns have been increased by 30-40% across all Ranked Mode maps. This will bring Ranked Mode more in line with the official Esports Mode. This change will significantly reduce the time needed to loot and allow players to jump into the action much quicker.

The above is just a few of the awesome additions coming to PUBG Season 11. Players can find the full patch notes here.
