Pokemon BDSP Poffins are a returning mechanic from the original Diamond and Pearl games and they have a very specific purpose. The Super Contest Show is a fun minigame in Hearthome City, where the player will have their Pokemon judged against certain factors to win prizes for use in Pokemon BDSP. To increase their odds of winning, you can feed your Pokemon Poffins to boost certain stats. This guide has everything you need to know about Pokemon BDSP Poffins including how to cook them and win the Super Contest Show.

Pokemon BDSP Poffins: Poffin Case

Before you start cooking Poffins you will need the Poffin Case to store your finished items in. You can cook Poffins by heading to the Poffin House which is in Hearthome City to the left of the Pokemart.

But first, you need the Poffin Case. Head to the right of the Pokemart and you will come across the Pokemon Fan Club. Go inside and speak to the man at the table.

He will explain what Poffin is and how to cook it and all of the other details you need to know. Once he's explained it he will give you the Poffin Case which will allow you to store the Poffin you create.

Now, you can head to the Poffin House, or at the top of Amity Square (the same place you learn how to get Pokemon to follow in Pokemon BDSP) which can be found in the northern part of Hearthome City. Go inside and speak to the woman next to the large pot on the table. You create Poffins by selecting four Berries from your inventory.

Then it is time for the Poffin cooking minigame. This involves the player stirring the pot constantly to stop it from burning. This is done by turning the analogue stick on the Joycon or Pro Controller either counter or anti-clockwise, the game will change which way you need to turn the stick periodically throughout the minigame.

You need to make sure you don't stir too much as it will cause the Poffin to overflow from the pot, and you need to make sure you don't stir too little as this will burn the Poffin. As you get further into the minigame it will become more difficult, with the threshold for burning being much lower as the heat is increased. After around one minute the minigame will complete and you will earn the Poffin to give to your Pokemon.

The amount of Poffins you get will depend on how many berries you use, so if you use four berries you will get four Poffin. But if you use two or more of the same berries you will get a Foul Poffin.

Pokemon BDSP Poffins: How To Win The Super Contest Show

Poffins are used to increase stats for the Super Contest Show, which is also done in Hearthome City where you pit your Pokemon against three other contestants to try and win the competition. You can have your Pokemon judged on a number of factors, which can be increased by giving them Poffins.

The flavour of the Poffin will increase the following stats.

  • Spicy: Coolness
  • Dry: Beauty
  • Sweet: Cuteness
  • Bitter: Cleverness
  • Sour: Toughness

A Pokemon's nature also plays a part in how effective Poffins are, if they like the specific flavour their stats will raise more, and if they dislike it then it won't rise as much.

Here is a chart of which flavours a Pokemon will prefer depending on their nature.
