No Man's Sky Leviathan Expedition
Perhaps the biggest change in this brand-new update is the addition of the Leviathan Expedition, which is set to be the most unique one in the game yet. It traps players inside a time loop, turning the game into more of a roguelike where every death resets the loop. Additionally, the difficulty is set to survival mode, making for a slightly harder experience than usual.
A big aspect of the new expedition are the Memory Fragments. These are pieces of procedurally generated technology that reset every loop, and by joining up with other players and helping Specialist Polo research this tech, you can get stronger fragments that lead to better upgrades, inventory space, and stronger Starships.
During your adventures in the Leviathan Expedition, players will attempt to uncover the source of the timeloop and seek out an ancient space whale called the Leviathan. This expedition is set to run for six weeks, and players can earn a number of limited-time rewards during this period. Some of the rewards include: special posters, a Temporal Starship Trail, Whalestalker Cloak, and the ability to recruit the Leviathan itself to your fleet. The bases featured in Space Anomaly have also been reset, so you can visit a series of new community builds during the duration of the expedition.
The Leviathan Expedition is out now for the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, so if you are reading this, you can play it right now. Lastly, there are a series of fixes and patches that have been included, so feel free to check them out on the game's official website here.
That's all for our coverage of the No Man's Sky Leviathan expedition, and now you know what the expedition features, such as the new roguelike mode, available rewards, and the space whales.
