MW2 Weapon Tier List: Best Guns In Modern Warfare 2

This MW2 weapon tier list breaks all 41 Primary weapons into separate tiers based on how they perform on the battlefield. Modern Warfare 2 features an enormous arsenal of guns, so tier lists exist to give players a basic idea of the best guns to arm themselves with. So, to avoid wasting time on ineffective guns, use our MW2 weapon tier list to determine what firearms are worth a spot in your Custom Loadouts.

S Tier

S Tier is reserved for the best of the best on the Modern Warfare 2 weapon list. These five guns are the MW2 meta weapons and see consistent use by Call of Duty League pros. The Kastov-74u, in particular, is so good that professional players have made a gentleman's agreement not to use it in competitive play.

Be sure to have at least a couple of Custom Loadouts featuring these S Tier weapons for when things get serious.

A Tier

Don't be mistaken — A Tier weapons are still among the finest in MW2. However, to compete toe-to-toe with the almighty S Tier, you'll need to make sure they're equipped with the optimal attachments.

B Tier weapons are above average but won't stand out like some of the higher-tier selections available in MW2. These guns are solid alternatives when you feel like trying something new or drifting from the consensus.

C Tier weapons are serviceable and might surprise you with a quality set of attachments. But for the most part, they're rather underwhelming. It's not impossible to do well with these MW2 weapons, but you'll find that C Tier guns often struggle when matched against the likes of S, A, and even B Tier.

The MW2 weapons listed in D Tier have little to no redeeming qualities. Feel free to experiment with these weapons, but don't expect satisfactory results. In general, most players will want to avoid dipping into the D Tier.
