Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga scavenger abilities are one of the many new features introduced alongside the game’s new class system. The problem, however, is that unlike the other classes, scavenger abilities don’t unlock straight away. We've got the details to help you through the process of unlocking and using these powers in Lego Star Wars so you can use them to craft some new tools to help explore, find collectables and even solve puzzles on your way to completing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

How To Unlock Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Scavenger Abilities

With Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga allowing players to choose which trilogy of movies they want to start playing first, there are two different methods for unlocking the scavenger abilities. You can unlock them by playing through the original trilogy starting with Episode IV: A New Hope or the sequel Trilogy starting with Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Sorry Prequel fans.

The easiest of these two methods, by far, is starting with Episode VII: The Force Awakens so that’s the method we’ll be covering in detail in this guide. If you haven’t started with Episode VII though, you can also unlock these abilities by playing through Episode VI: Return of the Jedi up until “The Chewbacca Defense” where Wicket the Ewok will collect them throughout the level.

Starting off You’ll want to play through the story of The Force Awakens until you reach the mission titled “Scrap for Scraps”. In this mission, your party, consists of BB-8 and Rey (who is a part of the Scavenger class) and you're tasked with collecting 20 scrap collectables with the level acting as a tutorial to the Scavenger Abilities.

Firstly, go around on the ground level as well as the ones on ledges BB-8 can grapple up to collect (as pictured above). There will be one scrap you can’t collect just yet that’s trapped behind a wall but we’ll come back for that later. Once you're done with these scraps, head to the far side of the room from where you entered, near one of the platforms BB-8 grappled up to and you can unlock the first Scavenger ability: the net launcher.

A handy tool for exploring levels, the net launcher can be fired at certain surfaces (often marked with an X shape) to make a climbable surface to help players get to locations they couldn’t otherwise reach. The outline of the net will turn green when aimed at a surface it can be attached to with only two nets being deployable at any given time.

Once all the nets are attached, climb the nets to the platform and collect the scrap then head up the ladder to find your second scavenger ability: the glider.

The glider is perhaps the most practical of the three scavenger abilities you can come across in Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga with the most general usefulness when compared to the others. Acting as your standard glider, players can use it to travel longer distances by gently descending, making it incredibly useful for exploration. Watch out for blue holographic arrows (as pictured above) that indicate areas where the glider is needed to progress but the glider can be used at any time so be sure to use it while exploring each level to try and find some hidden collectibles and studs to unlock more kyber crystals for upgrades. Be warned, however, the glider doesn’t last forever and will eventually stop working so be careful where you’re gliding.

After you’ve crafted the glider, glide across the gap indicated by the holographic arrow towards the platform in the distance with the scrap. Collect the scrap and push the large crate off of the ledge. Jump down after it crashes and build scattered lego pieces back into a bounce-pad. Use the bounce-pad to jump back up as Rey then switch to BB-8 and do the same. BB-8 can then grapple to the platform above you, solving the puzzle up there to drop a ladder for Rey to join them. Use Rey to glide across to the platform ahead of you where you will get your final Scavenger ability: the breaker blaster.

The breaker blaster allows players to blast through cracked lego walls that have a white/blue glow shining through (pictured above). Walls may take multiple shots to break and may hide collectibles behind them so keep an eye out for that bright glow. The breaker blaster can also be used in combat with a purchasable upgrade being available that increases its damage and explosion radius.

Use the Breaker Blaster to destroy the glowing wall and collect the scrap behind it. Once you're done, drop down and break the second wall on the ground level you left alone earlier and collect any scrap you may have missed and you’ve done it. You now have access to all the Scavenger abilities to be used on any level while playing as a scavenger class character and can go about exploring the galaxy to find all its secrets.

Once you’ve unlocked the Scavenger abilities by either playing “Scrap for Scraps” or “The Chewbacca defence”, any character that is a part of the Scavenger class can use the abilities at any time by simply pressing and holding circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox or A on Nintendo Switch to bring up the three abilities.

Then pick which ability you want to use, confirm it and you’re good to go. You can unequip each tool by pressing the same button you used to open up the selection and each tool can be used unlimited times. It’s best to use these abilities on a second playthrough via freeplay, so you can enjoy the stories first and then complete all the challenges and collectibles after the fact.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Scavenger Characters

Scavenger is one of the more limited classes when it comes to the options available to the player with only a select few Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga characters being a part of it and having access to the options. Those characters include:

  • Paploo
  • Rey (Episode VII)
