How To Level Up Fast in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition
If you're finding that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition is a bit too difficult, you're not alone. It can be a frustrating side-scrolling beat-'em-up, even for seasoned retro gaming veterans. Whether you're flying solo or have multiple characters charging through each level, it can undoubtedly be a challenge to take on hordes of enemies at once. With each one whittling away at your health little by little, you suffer a death by a thousand cuts, unless you're savvy enough to know how the game's levelling system actually works.
Don't let the game's somewhat austere nature get you down. There are ways to make sure you stay one step ahead of the game, and if you know where to find them, you'll be owning the bad guys that rush you left and right. You have to, after all. Your mission is to defeat Ramona Flowers' seven evil exes so you can become the couple you were always meant to be. And if you can't make it past a few paltry no-name baddies, then what kind of beau are you, really?
We've got everything you need to know about conquering your foes in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition without having to grind things out - or be miserable.
How to Level Up Fast in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition
While you do accrue experience while cleaving through the various enemies thrown at you during the game, there's another way to ensure you're building a stronger character without having to return and play segments of the game over and over. No, that doesn't mean you should try and play with others to maximise your killing sprees. There's a much simpler answer than that, and it involves making use of the shops hidden throughout the seven levels that correspond to each of Ramona Flowers' seven evil exes.
The game doesn't do a great job of making this known, but the shops offer items that don't just fill up your health. They offer permanent stat boosts that you can use to power up your character enough so that fighting even Gideon Graves isn't that big of a deal. So when you slip into the video store and purchase an item that restores your health, what you're actually doing is giving yourself a permanent boost that will carry over to your character, even if you find yourself dead shortly after purchasing a big bunch of goodies.
That means you should be saving up your hard-earned coins as you cruise through the game. The more you save, the better, more expensive items you can afford, and that ultimately means the better you'll be at levelling up your character. You can go back and replay levels if you wish to earn more cash, but playing the game normally should net you enough currency to make sure you're levelled enough to take on all comers. Suddenly, the game will seem much more palatable for you at that point.
There are several different shops found throughout each stage. You can run into them and purchase items at any time. These range from the video store, No Account Video, to the restaurant Dee's Tex Mex. All shops sell different types of items with what can only be called vague descriptions. Essentially, you won't know what each item does until you purchase it, at which point its stat boosts will be revealed. But that means potentially throwing money down the drain, and you don't want that. It's difficult enough to save up, and if you spend it all on frivolous items, that will keep you from your ultimate goal.
Usually, there are clues in the item names that help you figure out what each one does. You can bypass all of that, however, and buy the items that really matter by paying off Scott's membership fees at the first shop, No Account Video. You'll owe a whopping $504.25, so some serious saving is in order. Once you've paid off this massive chunk of change, come back, and find some of the strongest stat-boosting items in the game, including the only item to offer you additional lives in the form of a 1Up the item "The Mystical Head."
You'll also be able to purchase the following items:
- Seven Shaolin Masters
- Aliens VS T-Rex
- Alone and Disturbed
- I Love Your Boyfriend
Each gives a massive XP boost, with Alone and Disturbed offering 1500 XP alone. Once you've paid off Scott's debts, you can keep coming back to this store over and over again to rack up those precious points you need to level up. Most importantly, you get the means to go on living and burn through lives if you need the opportunity. And when the going gets tough, you almost certainly will.
With this trick in mind, you'll be able to level at a decent clip so you can take on all comers. You'll be on your way to being crowned the winner in this fight for romantic supremacy in no time. Good luck, and good hunting!
