How Many Seasons Of Fortnite Are There?
Fortnite hasn’t actually been around for that long - but with its dominance of pop culture, let alone video games, you’d guess it had been around for generations. The game, with its huge array of cosmetics and its ability to define the battle royale genre, has clambered right to the top of the cultural consciousness and has become the face of gaming in the 21st century, for better or worse. The titan is still going incredibly strong since its release in 2017, and that’s thanks to its hugely popular “seasons” structure.
Every once in a while a new Fortnite season will roll around, bringing with it more narrative content, big changes to the game’s map and a whole new battle pass to boot, packed with new cosmetics.
It’s a system that’s clearly been influential, as we can see the likes of Call of Duty and Halo now adopting this strategy to keep their games fresh long after launch. But now as we turn to the originator - how many seasons of Fortnite have there been?
How Many Fortnite Seasons Are There?
Including both “chapters” of Fortnite’s progress, there have been 16 seasons of the game so far. Ten of those seasons happened in chapter one, and then the game reset and picked up in the second chapter we find ourselves in now. We’re currently in the seventh season of chapter two, which is themed heavily around an alien invasion.
It’s thought that just like in the last chapter, chapter two will end with season 10, and we’ll once again get a full game reset.
When it comes to how many seasons we’ll get overall, that’s a more difficult question to answer right now. Fortnite continues to dominate, so it’d be crazy for Epic to throw it away at this stage. We imagine there’ll be many, many more seasons to come before the game chooses to pack it up.
Who knows what the upcoming seasons will be themed to represent, but there’s one thing we know for sure - they won’t stop coming for a very long time. And for that at least, we’re thankful.
