Wondering just how big the map size is in Hogwarts Legacy before starting out on your adventure? Then look no further, as we've got all the details on the full size of the open world alongside a complete list of locations you can visit in the game.

Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive RPG set in the Harry Potter Wizarding World that places you into the shoes of a fifth-year student, complete with a ridiculously large map to explore. However, you might be curious as to just how much they have added to this world outside of familiar locales like Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

Disclaimer: While the creator of the Harry Potter franchise was not directly involved in the creation of Hogwarts Legacy, their comments on social media around transgender people are hurtful and dangerous given the size of their platform.

We’d implore you to read our explainer of the controversy so far and consider supporting trans rights charities where possible.

What are the locations you can explore in Hogwarts Legacy

Split into various regions, the Hogwarts Legacy map is broken up to center around sixteen different locations, shown below:

  • Clagmar Coast
  • Coastal Cavern
  • Cragcroftshire
  • Feldcroft Region
  • Forbidden Forest
  • Hogsmeade
  • Hogsmeade Valley
  • Hogwarts
  • Hogwarts Valley
  • Manor Cape
  • Marunweem Lake
  • North Ford Bog
  • North Hogwarts Region
  • Poidsear Coast
  • South Hogwarts Region
  • South Sea Bog

While it's not the biggest map for an open-world RPG game, Hogwarts Legacy is quite dense with its locations, creatures, and various foes to encounter. All in all, traversing across the world using your broom to fly around shouldn't take long if you prefer not to fast travel.

Including the Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Legacy's map is exactly 2.95 square miles - almost 3 square miles in total. Across this wider map, players will find all manner of additional sights to explore like other castles, hamlets, enemy camps, magical creatures and beasts to find, Demiguise Statues to locate, and more.

That's all you need to know about the locations featured in the game. For more on the game, check out if you can romance other characters or if there is a New Game Plus mode available. For even more guides, check out our Hogwarts Legacy homepage.
