The Halo Infinite Bassus boss fight has proven to be one of the hardest in the game. The newest Halo has tonnes of big fights across its new semi-open-world, but early on, Bassus will prove to be a tough fight for players. If you're struggling with the big boy, here's our Halo Infinite Bassus guide, with some tips and a breakdown for fighting him.

For many players, Bassus will be the third boss fight in their playthrough, and can be found during the fifth mission called Excavation Site. He guards the control room of a giant mining laser which Master Chief needs to deactivate to progress.

He's no Craig, but Bassus is one huge Brute - packing tonnes of armour and a Gravity Hammer to boot. It takes some work to kill him and evade his hammer, but we have some tips.

There are a couple core things to keep in mind for any of the Halo Infinite boss fights, and that's their shield and health. Remember that in Infinite, plasma and kinetic weapons have different effects, with the former perfect for breaking shields and the latter great against unshielded enemies. A powerful combo that's easy to find when fighting Banished, is the Pulse Carbine and Needler. Lastly, a new weapon type in Halo Infinite are shock weapons which can be used to stun enemies, including Bassus.

For Bassus, you also have to mind his Gravity Hammer and the Fusion Coils which litter the enclosed space you'll battle with him in. When evading Bassus, we recommend players make good use of the Grapple Shot to stay far away from him and stay mobile.

It's also a good idea to use all the Fusion Coils to your advantage by throwing them at him, or baiting him into attacking a group of them for big damage. Worth noting that Heroic and Legendary should extra head from these warnings, as Bassus' Gravity Hammer is an easy one-shot against Chief.

If you want to utilise a little AI bug to win the fight, you can go to the top of the nearby ramp in the bossfight room. Standing at the top and strafing left to right can essentially confuse Bassus, giving you some extra time to get shots in.

The basics to remember against Basuss are:

  • Utilise plasma weaponry against his shield, and kinetic to lower his health quicker.
  • Shock weapons can stun him for a quick chance to do high damage.
  • Make good use of the grapple to quickly get away from his Gravity Hammer.
  • Avoid Fusion Coils altogether, alternatively throw them at him or bait him into attacking a group of them.

That's our Halo Infinite Bassus breakdown, and you should be ready to take on one of Master Chief's toughest enemies yet.
