The Guardians of the Galaxy Llama or Tech choice crops up when the Guardians have been caught out by the Nova Corps. With the Nova Corp minutes away from boarding the Milano, the team has to decide whether to hide animal or tech, with only space for one. 

The Guardians of the Galaxy hide animal or tech choice creates the first of many divisions in the team, as they argue over which is more valuable.

In the Guardians of the Galaxy Llama or Tech choice, Rocket is very protective of his tech and promises that it will come in handy for the Milano later down the line. Choosing this option will leave you with a heftier 8000 units fine from the Nova Corps. The biggest negative impact this has is that you have less money to spend when you eventually get to the Knowhere market... if you intend to pay the fine back at all, that is.

Later on in the story, you will be stopped by Captain Glory of the Lethal Legion, who is hunting you down on behalf of Lady Hellbender. He has the ship surrounded, which results in one of the few space fights in the game. This is where your Guardians of the Galaxy Llama or Tech choice comes into play, as your hidden tech has now been converted into auto-lock missiles. This makes this space battle fare easier, as the missiles can be used to fire upon multiple enemy ships at once.

By selecting the llama in the Guardians of the Galaxy Llama or Tech choice, you will receive a smaller fine of 7000 units. However, without hiding the tech it will be confiscated and therefore will not unlock the auto-lock missiles for the Milano later in the game. However, between the Guardians of the Galaxy hide animal or tech choices, this has its own benefit.

At one stage of the game, the team are locked in their rooms in the Milano. If you chose to hide the Llama, it would have chewed its way through the wall, making Star Lord's escape incredibly easy. Without hiding the creature, however, the Nova Corp leave the llama anyway, and then you must engage in a mini-game where you entice it to chew the door lock by making the team sing.

Out of the two outcomes in the Guardians of the Galaxy Llama or Tech choice, hiding the tech is the best outcome. The only real negative is that you receive a higher fine, and since you don’t need to pay it later on, you can just spend all of your units on Knowhere anyway.
