Godfall Challenger Edition: Story, Content, And Upgrades
The Godfall Challenger Edition has been officially unveiled as part of the December offering for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Godfall was one of the launch titles for the new-gen PlayStation 5, however, it wasn't received all too well, partly because of the newly introduced £70 price tag. However, after a year Godfall is hoping to draw in a new audiences with its Challenger Edition. Unsure about whether to jump in? We've got everything you need to know about Godfall Challenger Edition, including what it is and the differences between previous editions.
Godfall Challenger Edition: What Is Godfall?
If you are unclear on what exactly Godfall is, let alone Godfall Challenger Edition, you wouldn't be alone. Godfall was a PS5 launch title that was tagged as a "looter slasher", seemingly taking the grind of games like Destiny, and replacing sci-fi weaponry with ancient heavy swords, hammers, and spears.
Along with two other players, you will face off against enemies with a combat system that in all fairness looks incredibly fun. You'll be parrying attacks, dodging deadly blows and striking down on enemies with special moves. And you'll do all of that in one of the best looking games on PS5.
Godfall Challenger Edition: What Is The Challenger Edition?
Since its launch, Godfall released the Lightbringer Update, which brought the game to PS4, and introduced new enemies, loot, and armour. Players could also shell out for the Fire And Darkness DLC, which could be bought individually or as part of the Ascended Edition. Now however, the Godfall Challenger Edition brings in a new suite of functions, and not all of them particularly positive.
The Challenger Edition is all about allowing players to jump right into the end game content. Players who download this edition will immediately hit max rank, and have all of their skill points to use and a ton of weapons to go along with them.
Since you are jumping right into the end game, players will work their way through the three modes: Lightbringer; Dreamstones; and Ascended Tower of Trails. All three modes are variations of escalating difficulty types, where players will face greater challenges with the potential of greater rewards.
The controversy of Godfall Challenger Edition however, is that since players are right into the end game, they don't just skip the game's campaign, it isn't even available through the PS Plus version. Instead, if you wanted to dip into its story, you'd need to pay for the Deluxe Edition, which at this time doesn't have a price. However, the Deluxe Edition upgrade will include the Fire And Darkness DLC and additional weapons on top of the campaign. Anyone that owned Godfall prior to this release will be upgraded to the Challenger Edition for free.
