Yes, Fortnite supports split-screen mode. However, there are some limitations. Fortnite split-screen is available exclusively on Xbox and PlayStation. As of now, PC, Mobile, and Nintendo Switch players can not activate split-screen mode.

There are also limitations to which game types can be played in Fortnite split-screen mode. Creative, Save the World, Solos and limited-time modes are all disabled while using split-screen. Squads and Duos are the only two game modes available for players with split-screen enabled.

Lastly, there are a few final notes to be aware of before jumping into Fortnite split-screen:

  • You must have a stable internet connection
  • If either player disconnects or exits the match, the entire split-screen session will end
  • The lobby and all sub-menus are not shared - split-screen only works while in a match
  • Split-screen mode does not allow players to share their inventories
  • Both players must have the same language settings selected as multi-language support is not available in Fortnite split-screen mode

Fortnite Split-Screen: Is Split-Screen Back?

Fortnite split-screen had been going strong dating back to 2019 when it was first added. However, Epic Games disabled Fortnite split-screen at the start of Chapter 3 - Season 1.

Chapter 3's launch was the biggest yet, and as a result, the servers have suffered. While there has been no official word from Epic Games, it's theorized that split-screen was disabled in an attempt to lessen the strain on Fortnite's servers.

After going MIA for a couple of weeks, Fortnite split-screen is officially back. Fortnite players can grab a friend and resume their split-screen gaming immediately.

That's everything you need to know about Fortnite split-screen. Split-screen allows two individuals to play Fortnite together at the same time without the need for a second screen or console. So, call up a sibling, partner, or close friend and begin the hunt for one of those elusive victory royales — together.
