Aliens have invaded the Fortnite world and changed our lives as we know them. But one thing remains the same: challenges. Completing challenges is the best and most efficient way of earning XP in Fortnite. Players will need this XP to acquire Battle Stars; the currency used to unlock items in Chapter 2 - Season 7’s Battle Pass. Ignoring challenges will make it near impossible to unlock Season 7’s signature skins like Rick Sanchez and Superman.

Now that we’ve harped on the importance of completing challenges, let’s get into the details. Each Week 1 challenge grants a substantial 30,000 XP, up from the 24,000 XP awarded for each Season 6 challenge. Completing all Week 1 challenges will grant players an enormous 375,000 XP.  As you can see, these challenges are not something you want to miss out on.

There’s no more time to waste. Get ready to kick off Chapter 2 - Season 7 as we guide you through an in-depth breakdown of every single Week 1 challenge and the best course of action for completing them.

Epic Quests

Collect different weapon types (5) - 30,000 XP

Chapter 2 - Season 7 begins with a quest to collect five different weapon types. There are six different weapon types in total:

  • Assault Rifle
  • SMG
  • Shotgun
  • Pistol
  • Sniper
  • Explosive

The rarity of the weapon does not matter; it’s the category of weapon we’re after. Search ground loot, chests, and Loot Llamas for different weapon types. Chapter 2 - Season 7’s very first challenge will complete once five different types of weapons have been added to your inventory.

Search chests at Steamy Stacks or Craggy Cliffs (7) - 30,000 XP

A classic “Search Chests” challenge, players must search seven total chests at Steamy Stacks and/or Craggy Cliffs.

Jump off the Battle Bus to the point-of-interest (POI) of your choice. Search as many chests as possible as quickly as you can. Once it seems like the loot has dried up, make your way to the POI you did not land at. These two POIs are right next door to one another, so it’s a quick trip.

Team Rumble is perfect for this challenge. Players can drop at either Steamy Stacks or Craggy Cliffs and begin the search for chests. Once all chests have been looted, eliminate yourself. This will force you to skydive back in, allowing you to speedrun to the second POI. Loot the leftover chests until nothing remains.

This challenge can be done across multiple matches, so feel free to back out and try again if you are short a chest or two after one match.

Deal damage with the Pulse Rifle (500) - 30,000 XP

The Pulse Rifle is a brand-new Imagined Order (IO) gun introduced in Chapter 2 - Season 7. The Pulse Rifle acts similarly to the Stark Industries Energy Rifle from Chapter 2 - Season 4. When hip-fired, the Pulse Rifle is fully automatic. However, aim-down-sight and the Pulse Rifle turns into a slow-firing marksman rifle.

This challenge is as simple as finding a Pulse Rifle and using it on your opponents. Deal 500 total damage with the Pulse Rifle to receive 30,000 XP.

Elimination with the Rail Gun (1) - 30,000 XP

Another weapon new to Chapter 2 - Season 7, the Rail Gun is the IO’s version of a Sniper Rifle. The Rail Gun comes with a twist though, as it can penetrate walls with the powerful energy beams it fires.

The Rail Gun is extremely potent when combined with the new Recon Scanner. Strategic players can reveal outlines of their enemies through walls with the Recon Scanner and line up headshots with the Rail Gun.

Secure just one elimination with this futuristic sniper to complete the challenge.

Accept a quest from a payphone (1) - 30,000 XP

Payphones are another new addition to Chapter 2 - Season 7. Players can approach a Payphone and interact with it to bring up a menu. Here, players can accept mini in-game quests. These quests consist of stuff such as “Destroy Opponent Structures” and “Damage while in a vehicle”. Completing these Payphone quests will reward Gold Bars.

Payphones are scattered all around the island. Head to one and interact with the Payphone. Accept the quest of your choosing, and you’re done! You don’t even have to complete the Payphone quest if you don't want to.

Upgrade weapons at upgrade benches (3) - 30,000 XP

Upgrade Benches are back in Chapter 2 - Season 7. Players can use Upgrade Benches to upgrade their weapon’s rarity to a higher tier. Upgrading weapons costs a set amount of Gold Bars depending on the rarity of the weapon you aim to upgrade.

Before attempting this challenge, make sure you have a stack of 600 Gold Bars ready to go. Upgrading Common rarity weapons is the cheapest option here, and that’ll set you back 200 Gold Bars a gun.

Any Upgrade Bench on the map will work, but we recommend the one at Camp Cod. Camp Cod is the small island at the southernmost point of the island. This location is rather secluded and is perfect for upgrading weapons in peace.

Search the area until you find three Common rarity weapons. Next, take these weapons to the Upgrade Bench and begin the upgrading process. A total of 600 Gold Bars later, you’ll have three shiny new guns and 30,000 XP for your efforts.

Buy a shield potion from a Mending Machine (1) - 30,000 XP

Vending Machines are back in Chapter 2 - Season 7. With them comes a new variant called a Mending Machine. These special Vending Machines offer healing items exclusively. You won’t find any guns in a Mending Machine.

Visit one of the many Mending Machines spread throughout the island. Approach one and interact with it to bring up its offerings. For 30 Gold Bars, players can purchase a Shield Potion. Buy one Shield Potion to complete the final Epic Quest of Week 1.

Legendary Quests

Converse with Sunny, Abstrakt, Dreamflower, Riot, or Bushranger (3) – 45,000 XP

The Fortnite island is loaded with non-player characters (NPCs) that players can interact with. Some of them sell rare equipment, some offer bodyguard services, and some just have interesting stories to tell.

Week 1’s featured Legendary Quest asks players to converse with Sunny, Abstrakt, Dreamflower, Riot, or Bushranger. Players can find these NPCs at the following locations:

  • Sunny - On the pier at Believer Beach
  • Abstrakt - The far north side of Retail Row
  • Dreamflower - In a house near Flopper Pond
  • Riot - Next to the Yellow Steel Bridge west of Misty Meadows
  • Bushranger - In the fields north of the Aftermath

Approach one of these NPCs and start a conversation with them. You will receive credit for this challenge at the conclusion of your talk. This special quest will award an increased 45,000 XP.

Collect Stone from The Aftermath (100) – 30,000 XP

The Aftermath is the exotic purple crater in the centre of the map where The Spire used to stand. Players must visit this new POI and collect 100 Stone material.

The Aftermath is littered with Stone, making this an easy Legendary Quest. Harvest 100 total Stone with your pickaxe to complete this challenge.

Collect different IO tech weapons (3) – 30,000 XP

Chapter 2 - Season 7 introduced four new IO tech weapons. This includes:

  • Kymera Ray Gun
  • Pulse Rifle
  • Recon Scanner
  • Rail Gun

We recommend searching for IO weapons at Corny Complex. Hidden beneath the surface of Corny Complex is a secret IO base. This location is packed with IO weapons. Collect three of the four high-tech weapon types to complete this challenge.

Interact with Bunker Jonesy’s conspiracy board (1) – 30,000 XP

Bunker Jonesy remains a prevalent character in the Fortnite story. Bunker Jonesy can be found in the log cabin south of the Apres Ski Lodge. Inside Bunker Jonesy’s cabin, players will find his conspiracy board. Interact with the board to complete this quest.

Place rubber ducks in Retail Row, Pleasant Park, and Believer Beach (3) – 30,000 XP

Retail Row, Pleasant Park, and Believer Beach all have a special spot where players can place a rubber duck. Players must visit all three locations and place a duck to complete Week 1’s final Legendary Quest.

Start by placing a rubber duck on the basketball court at Retail Row. Next, travel to Believer Beach and place a rubber duck next to the pool on the east beach. Lastly, players should visit Pleasant Park and place a rubber duck outside of the gas station.

Place all three ducks to finish off the Week 1 challenges.
