Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machines are a special type of Vending Machine that spits out completely random items. These unique machines are of particular interest at the moment, as purchasing an item from one is part of a Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 - Week 6 quest. This guide will cover every Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machines location as well as explain what exactly a Malfunctioning Vending Machines is and where to find one.

There are two types of Fortnite Vending Machines: Mending Machines and Weapon-O-Matics. Both of these Vending Machines can malfunction, creating a Malfunctioning Vending Machine. The screen of a Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machine is bright red with a large exclamation point on the surface. What comes out of these Malfunctioning Vending Machines is completely random — it could be a top-tier weapon or it could be something nearly worthless.

Purchasing an item from a Malfunctioning Vending Machine is one of the Chapter 3 Season 1 - Week 6 challenges. An item from a Malfunctioning Vending Machine will set you back 100 Gold Bars. If you're low on Gold Bars, check out our guide on how to earn Gold Bars in Fortnite.

Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machines: How To Find Them

While Vending Machines spawn in set locations each match, whether one is a Malfunctioning Vending Machine or not is determined randomly at the beginning of a match.

Finding a Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machine will simply come down to luck, plus trial and error. Visit locations with a high density of Vending Machines and hope you get fortunate enough to run into a malfunctioning one. Vending Machines will not show up on the full-scale map of the island, but you can see them on the in-game minimap when they're nearby.

It's not possible to make a Vending Machine malfunction once a match begins, so don't waste your time smacking a non-Malfunctioning Vending Machine with your pickaxe or trying to blow it up with a grenade.

  • Have you seen a twister or a storm cloud in the distance and wondered what it was all about? Find out everything there is to know about the new Fortnite tornadoes and lightning weather events.

Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machines Locations

Every point of interest (POI) on the map houses at least one or two Weapon-O-Matics. Additionally, you'll find Mending Machines at some of these POIs as well. Finally, there are additional Mending Machines scattered across the island in more remote locations.

The map below depicts the locations of every Fortnite Vending Machine:

As you can see, places like Sleepy Sound, Coney Crossroads, and Condo Canyon have the most Vending Machines in one area. Visit these points of interest and check to see if any of the Vending Machines are malfunctioning. Keep searching the locations on the map until you come across a Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machine.

With a Malfunctioning Vending Machine in front of you, interact with it to purchase a random item with Gold Bars. If you haven't completed the quest already, you will be awarded 25,000 XP toward your Season Level and Battle Pass.
