The Fortnite Joy skin is one of Fortnite's most well-received and desired Outfits. Fortnite is a global game with a community of players that come in all shapes, sizes, and colours — the Joy Outfit represents that. Let's go over the Fortnite Joy skin, why it's popular, and how to get it.

Fortnite Joy Skin: What Is The Fortnite Joy Skin?

The Fortnite Joy skin is a Rare Outfit for the Battle Royale mode. Joy is part of the Free Skate Set and was originally a fan concept. The artist behind Joy, DahjaCat, designed the skin as a mere idea. However, Epic Games liked it so much that they transformed Joy into an actual in-game skin.

The Joy Outfit depicts a female character with a Vitiligo skin condition. Vitiligo is a disease that causes loss of skin colour in patches. Joy is also decked out in rainbow-themed clothing, an ode to the LGBTQIA+ community.

While Joy doesn't come with a matching Back Bling, her built-in emote more than makes up for it. Players with the Fortnite Joy Skin equipped have access to the Roller Vibes emote. Roller Vibes is a Traversal emote in which Joy slides around on her roller skates to the song Kiss Me More by star musical artist Doja Cat.

The Fortnite Joy skin is quite popular and sought-after for a few reasons:

  1. For one, the Joy Outfit has a special meaning behind it. Often, life can be difficult for individuals with an outward and obvious condition such as Vitiligo. The Fortnite Joy skin is a kind gesture to those suffering from Vitiligo and demonstrates that beauty comes in all forms. Furthermore, Joy's attire — an ode to the LGBTQIA+ community — is a nice touch that once again shows support to another commonly disparaged and underrepresented group.

  2. Joy is the only skin that can perform the Roller Vibes emote. Roller Vibes' exclusivity makes it one of the Fortnite rarest emotes and turns the Fortnite Joy skin into a must-have for Doja Cat fans and anyone that likes the tune Kiss Me More.

  3. Finally, the Joy Outfit is admired simply due to how rare it is. Originally released in Chapter 2 Season 7, Joy has only appeared in the Fortnite Item Shop a total of two times. Once when it was first released in September 2021, and a second time in Chapter 3 Season 1. Joy doesn't come around often, so anyone with the skin owns one of the Fortnite rarest skins.

The Fortnite Joy skin can be purchased in the Item Shop for 1,200 V-Bucks. As of now, this is the only way to acquire the Joy Outfit.

There is no way to know or tell when the Fortnite Joy skin will reappear in the Item Shop. Fortnite's Item Shop rotation is unpredictable. If we had to guess, Joy will most likely return around her anniversary in September 2022. However, this is no guarantee. Joy could reappear sooner or later, it all depends on the actions of those in charge of the Item Shop at Epic Games.

When it's all said and done though, the Fortnite Joy skin will almost certainly rotate back into the Item Shop from time to time. There is no reason to keep this skin super rare or hold it back from the Fortnite community. After all, Joy can't bring Joy if players can't purchase her!

You now know the story of the Fortnite Joy skin. Keep a lookout for Joy in the Item Shop and consider saying hello if you run into a Joy Outfit while out on the Battle Royale island or within one of the Fortnite Creative maps.
