Fortnite ignite structures — one of the Seasonal quests of Week 9. Igniting structures involves setting a flammable building on fire and burning it down in Fortnite. However, not every item can ignite structures and not every structure can catch on fire. Let's go over which items can cause a fire and how to use them to ignite structures.

There are only a few ways to ignite structures and set an area ablaze in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1. The items that can ignite structures are:

  • Flare Guns
  • Firefly Jars
  • Gas Cans
  • Cars, trucks, and boats

Along with revealing enemies in the proximity, Flare Guns will ignite select structures on fire upon contact. Flare Guns are found in Floor Loot, in Chests, and in Supply Drops.

Firefly Jars are a forged item created by collecting a swarm of fireflies. Fireflies are most often found near water and forest areas. Additionally, Firefly Jars will spawn as Floor Loot on occasion. Toss a Firefly Jar to create an explosion and set structures ablaze.

Gas Cans are a Common rarity item usually spotted near bus stops, gas stations, and zones with vehicles present. Shoot a Gas Can to start a fire.

Finally, cars, trucks, and boats will light their surrounding area on fire upon destruction. Unload gunfire into one of these vehicles until its health reaches zero. The explosion that proceeds will ignite all flammable structures in the area.

Not all structures are flammable — even when hit by one of the items that can start a fire. Metal and Stone structures are immune to fire damage and can not be ignited. Only wooden structures can catch on fire.

Player-crafted Wood buildings and prebuilt houses are the top targets for this challenge. While items in the environment like trees can catch on fire too, they won't count as structures.

Team Rumble is an ideal playlist to take on this Week 9 Seasonal quest. Grab a Flare Gun, Firefly Jar, or Gas Can and head toward the action. By mid-match, there should be plenty of wooden structures built in the centre of all the fighting. Use your incendiary device to ignite the structures and burn them to the ground. Light ten separate structures on fire to complete the quest.

With this Week 9 quest out of the way, make sure you're caught up on the Seasonal quests from prior weeks like destroying different types of Fortnite cactus plants and purchasing an item from Fortnite Malfunctioning Vending Machines.
