Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8: Release, Leaks, Skins, And More
It's the dawn of a new era, as Fortnite fans prepare for the release of Chapter 2 Season 8. Following the extra-terrestrial terrors of Chapter 2 Season 7, we're expecting something a little more grounded this time around.
With Fortnite presumably in the second half of its second chapter, all eyes are on whether the inevitable Chapter 2 Season X will deliver something on a par with Chapter 1's "The End" event.
Season 8 is expected to put the pieces in place for where the narrative goes next and whether we'll see The Seven again.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 release date
Not that we aren't enjoying Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7, but everyone is asking when will Season 8 start. Normally, we're left guessing thanks to Chapter 2 seasons running anywhere between 12 to 18 weeks.
Thankfully, Season 7's revamped Battle Pass has confirmed that Chapter 2 Season 8 will start in the early hours of September 13, 2021.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 leaks
Considering there's so long to go until Season 8's release, leaks are few and far between. Season 7's Battle Star system is probably going to return - with the divisive mechanic sure to split players again.
Fans are already predicting how Season 7 will end, as many think the Mothership will crash into the map to become a new POI. Elsewhere, the mystery of The Foundation could be cleared up, and the Zero Point is sure to get a revamp.
There's also the introduction of a certain Man of Steel that's guaranteed to shake things up. It looks like Superman is Season 7's secret Battle Pass skin, while the Metropolis Marvel could play into the larger Fortnite narrative.
Who better to topple a race of megalomaniac aliens than an alien himself? Whatever brings Superman to the map, it's sure to have long-felt consequences for the Fortnite world.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 skins
All the usual celebrity and pop culture cameos are sure to fill out Season 8's Battle Pass and beyond. Season 7 famously brought Rick and Morty's Rick Sanchez to the party for this sci-fi theme, but until we know more about the general aesthetic of Season 8, there's no point guessing who is joining the fun and firearms.
In the meantime, LeBron James is arriving in Season 7. Off the back of Neymar in Season 6, we're guessing another sporting superstar will be making their way onto the map in Season 8.
Finally, the recent dump of supposedly cancelled skins could pop up once again. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande were among those teased alongside James, which gives hope to them not being forgotten yet. Unfortunately, our hopes of Samus Aran skin dwindle with each day.
Although we were disappointed that Chapter 2 Season 5 didn't include a WandaVision crossover, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were rewarded with Loki in the July Fortnite Crew Membership. We know Fortnite boss Donald Mustard has hinted at "many years" of Marvel crossovers, however, the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point crossover could tell a different story.
Given the cliffhanger of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #6 setting up a sequel - AND the fact Superman is landing in Season 7 - Season 8 could be a dark and brooding season from the pages of DC Comics.
Will there be a Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 9?
Like the changing of the tides, there's sure to be a Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 9. Unless something goes desperately wrong and Epic has to pull the battle royale favourite for some reason, we could expect a whole new Battle Pass some time around December 13.
With this being the Christmas period, it's unclear whether Season 8 will keep on rolling or whether we'll be celebrating 2022 in style with Chapter 2 Season 9. The supersized Chapter 2 Season 1 ran all the way from October 2019 to February 2020, so who knows?
We'll keep you updated with the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 release, leaks, skins, and more when we know more ourselves. Keep looking to the skies, Fortnite fans...
