You may want to know what is an Ascender in Fortnite, as it's a useful tool for players looking to get to the high ground without building. Since its release, Fortnite has come with plenty of new mechanics and features, so the addition of Ascenders hardly came as a surprise. So if you need a full breakdown on Fortnite Ascenders and their locations, read on.

A Fortnite Ascender is basically a vertical zipline. Like Fortnite ziplines, Ascenders serve as an assisted form of transportation. Ascenders are set fixtures in select spots around the map — they aren't an item you can use or place down on your own.

An Ascender can lift you from ground level to an elevated position in a split second. Or vice versa, you can slide down an Ascender to quickly descend from high ground.

Fortnite Ascenders are especially useful in No-Build Battle Royale and events like the Fortnite Zero Build Trials. Without building, it's much more difficult to reach certain positions on the island or get down from somewhere high up. Fortnite Ascenders are a key tool under these limitations.

Using an Ascender is rather simple. Just approach the Ascender and interact with it. In doing so, you'll clip on and rapidly lift to the top of it — or if you're at the top of an Ascender already — you'll slide down it.

Fortnite Ascender Locations

There are Fortnite Ascenders at both Chonker's Speedway and Command Cavern. Each location is home to five Ascenders total.

The Ascenders at Chonker's Speedway are attached to the different rocks and cliffs across the point of interest. Without an Ascender, it would be difficult to get up on top of these sites.

Three out of the five Ascenders at Command Cavern are attached to the Imagined Order Blimp floating above the location. Here, Ascenders serve as an access point to the IO Blimp as well as a safe way to get down.

A Week 3 Season Quest tasks players with using an Ascender at Chonker's Speedway and Command Cavern. Visit each of these points of interest and use at least one Ascender to complete the challenge.

You're now familiar with Fortnite Ascenders. Ascenders are a useful device in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, so make sure you know what they are, how to use them, and where to find them.
