When it comes to the Battlefield 2042 editions, there are three choices: Standard, Gold, and Ultimate. So choosing between the trio is definitely not easy, as each one offers more than the last. Battlefield 2042 is going to be a big deal, with the new game being a major competitor in the first-person shooter genre. It features natural disasters along with a brand new sandbox mode we've never seen before which includes classic maps. So if you're thinking about your Battlefield 2042 pre-order, which one are you going to get? This is everything you need to know about the Battlefield 2042 Ultimate edition, alongside the Gold and Standard versions.

The trouble with modern gaming, even as we move into an era that bolsters the digital copy of a game more and more, is that there’s so many editions of a game to rifle through before you’ll find the one that’s right for you.

Battlefield 2042 is no different, and has a lot of different goodies to offer you in your purchase. Here’s a full Battlefield 2042 editions comparison featuring all three available.

Battlefield 2042 editions explained

There are three different versions of the game that are available for pre-order now. They are:

  • Battlefield 2042: Standard Edition
  • Battlefield 2042: Gold Edition
  • Battlefield 2042: Ultimate Edition

Plus, with every pre-order regardless of edition chosen, you’ll receive the in-game goodies of the Baku ACB-90 Epic Melee Takedown Knife, the Mr Chompy Weapon Charm, the Landfall Player Card Background and the Old Guard Tag.

The Battlefield 2042 Standard Edition comes with the regular game, plus access to the title’s Open Beta if pre-ordered far enough in advance. If you were thinking about picking up the game and fancied an early peek at what’s to come, picking up the standard edition is best done sooner rather than later. It's also the cheapest of the three Battlefield 2042 editions, for those on a budget.

Battlefield 2042: Standard Edition is £49.99 on Steam, £59.99 on Xbox One & PS4, and £69.99 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

The Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition comes with everything in the Standard Edition, plus some extra goodies to make it worth your while. You’ll get early access to the game, letting you in a good week before everyone else, meaning you’ll have the chance to work up the ranks before everyone else joins in.

This edition is a cross-gen bundle too, so if you’re buying on Xbox or PlayStation, you’ll have both the previous-gen and next-gen copies of the title, just in case you’re not totally upgraded yet.

If that wasn’t enough, you’ll also get a bundle containing the ‘pass’ for the first year, coming with 4 new specialists, 4 battle passes, and 3 epic skin bundles.

Battlefield 2042: Gold Edition is £79.99 on Steam, and £89.99 across Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

And finally, the big one. Containing everything in both previous tiers, the Battlefield 2042: Ultimate Edition also comes with a Midnight Ultimate Bundle, an Official Digital Artbook and an Exclusive Digital Soundtrack. This is the only place you’ll be able to get these goodies, so it’s a bundle for the superfans.

Battlefield 2042: Ultimate Edition is £99.99 on Steam, and £109.99 across Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

The game is looking to be pretty huge, and every avenue towards jumping in with your pals is laid out before you. Pick your poison and jump in ready for release day, and we’ll see you on the floor!
