Dragon's Dogma 2: Release Date, Trailers, Gameplay, And More

Dragon's Dogma 2 has finally been announced, with the news coming from the series director Hideaki Itsuno during the Dragon's Dogma 10th anniversary celebration during June 2022. The original Dragon's Dogma was released back in 2012, and has gone to become a cult classic action role-playing game due to its satisfying combat mechanics, and the pawn system that allowed you to employ a custom NPC follower while picking up others throughout the game. We don't know a whole lot as of writing this, but read on for information on the Dragon's Dogma 2 release date and more.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Release Date
During the announcement, there was no mention of a release date or even a potential release window. No one knows how far along in development the game is currently, so we can only vaguely guess that the game will be released sometime after 2023 due to Capcom and the game director's silence on the matter.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Trailers
We're yet to receive any gameplay or cinematic trailers for Dragon's Dogma 2.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Gameplay
We also haven't seen any gameplay yet, though it's very likely that it will contain similar gameplay to the first title, but with expanded mechanics and features. The first title had real-time hack 'n' slash gameplay from a third-person perspective, but it allowed for multiple different classes to specialise into. One of its major combat features was the grab mechanic, which allowed you to cling to larger enemies and climb up them to make a more lethal attack. This was a major implementation for director Hideaki Itsuno, as he felt many games don't give you the full effect of fighting large bosses, as you're typically forced to hack at their legs or arms. It added a lot of dynamism to encounters, and it's almost guaranteed to return.
Another big feature was the pawn system. This allowed you to have a party of three NPCs who follow you around and take orders during combat. Beyond their ability to deal extra damage, they would also yell out hints and strategies that helped with different enemies, giving them a bit of personality beyond basic followers.
We don't know how exactly these systems will be expanded upon in the sequel, but it would make sense for these to return, along with even more features.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Platforms
There's no news on what platforms the game will come to, but it will likely be a next-gen title. Capcom also prioritises PC a lot more, since the success of recent Resident Evil titles on the platform, so it will definitely be there on launch too.
