While this isn't too surprising considering the amount of information we have received in recent months, I am still so excited that it is actually on the horizon with a concrete date at this point. Dragon's Dogma 2 is definitely one of my most anticipated games of 2024, and it is great to have it come at an early point in the year.

Are there any Dragon's Dogma 2 trailers?

There is currently one reveal trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 outside of the initial announcement, and it showed the first glimpse of the updated graphics and in-engine gameplay.

While still prospective, we did get to see some gameplay which looked as exciting as we were all hoping, giving us a look at magic and physical combat, alongside a peek at a dragon too.

At Tokyo Game Show 2023, Capcom revealed a nine-minute gameplay deep dive trailer, which showcased far more information about the game. Here, we got to see some of the open-world combat gameplay, as well as how tackling some of the larger bosses will work.

Our biggest glimpse of Dragon's Dogma 2 came in the Tokyo Game Show trailer, but outside of that, details on its gameplay are very limited. It's likely that it will contain similar gameplay to the first title but with expanded mechanics and features.

The first title had real-time hack 'n' slash gameplay from a third-person perspective, but it allowed for multiple different classes to specialise in. One of its major combat features was the grab mechanic, which allowed you to cling to larger enemies and climb up them to make a more lethal attack.

This was a major implementation for director Hideaki Itsuno, as he felt many games don't give you the full effect of fighting large bosses, as you're typically forced to hack at their legs or arms. It added a lot of dynamism to encounters, and it's almost guaranteed to return.

Another big feature was the Pawn system. This allowed you to have a party of three NPCs who follow you around and take orders during combat. Beyond their ability to deal extra damage, they would also yell out hints and strategies that helped with different enemies, giving them a bit of personality beyond basic followers.

We don't know how exactly these systems will be expanded upon in the sequel, but it would make sense for these to return, along with even more features.

You will begin your journey within Dragon's Dogma 2 in an underground gaol, with a Dragon's voice echoing within your lost memories. Your goal is to fulfil your forgotten destiny, slay the Dragon, and claim the throne.

As you can see, things are still quite unknown when it comes to the larger narrative, but we can at least tell that seeking out a Dragon is going to be key to your success and destiny in Dragon's Dogma 2.
