You may be wondering how to change difficulty in Diablo Immortal, as it's not as straightforward as selecting a difficulty when you start the game, and it's tied heavily to the quality of gear you can receive. Diablo Immortal is the first spin-off of the series, primarily made for mobile devices and siphoning money from people, it's not had the best reception so far despite the sizeable player base. So if you are looking to crank up the difficulty, here's how to change difficulty in Diablo Immortal.

  • You may also want to understand how the Diablo Immortal Combat Rating works, as it's another key part of the game's difficulty that checks your rating against all enemies.

The ability to change difficulty in Diablo Immortal doesn't come until quite far into the game, so you will need to go through most content on Normal to begin with. Once you reach the Diablo Immortal max level of 60, you will unlock the option to select a different difficulty and start earning Paragon levels.

Essentially, in addition to the Normal difficulty, there are four Hell levels which progressively increase the difficulty of enemies and allow them to drop better gear with higher attributes. Each of these Hell difficulties is tied to your overall Paragon level, so as you increase your level, you will unlock more difficulties and earn the chance to get the best possible gear. You can continue to complete the game on Normal if you desire, but if you plan on becoming as powerful as possible, you will need to change the difficulty.

The current difficulties, along with their Paragon level, are as follows:

  • Normal - Character level 1-60
  • Hell One - Paragon level 1-60
  • Hell Two - Paragon level 30-130
  • Hell Three - Paragon level 90-210
  • Hell Four - Paragon level 160-300

To change the game's difficulty, you will first need to hit level 60 and then travel to the area of Westmarch. Once you're here, open up your map, and tap on the skull icon in the top-right to bring up the difficulty options.

That's all for our primer on changing difficulty in Diablo Immortal, and now you know what the different difficulties mean for your gameplay, and how you can change them after reaching level 60.

We also have a breakdown of the Diablo Immortal cross-platform and cross-progression systems, so you know how to keep your account across both PC and mobile devices.
