The Destiny 2 Guardian Games is a yearly event that pits Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans against each other. Destiny 2 has always encouraged a friendly rivalry between the classes but this is the one time of the year where that rivalry takes centre stage, and Guardians get to duke it out for class supremacy. As dodgy and toxic as that might sound, it is a wonderful event that celebrates a friendly competition, and there are never any hard feelings because it is already a known fact that Hunters are the best. Regardless of your class persuasion, there is plenty to do during the games, so here is our guide on everything you need to know about the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2022.

  • Destiny 2 is an ever-changing game, to help keep up with it you should check out our Destiny 2 weekly reset guide.

Guardian Games Start Date

The Guardian Games start on May 3rd and run for three weeks until May 24th. This date coincides with the end of the current season, meaning the Games will run right up until the beginning of season 17. From May 3rd, players have exactly three weeks to finish up everything they want to do in season 16 and compete in the Guardian Games.

  • There are a lot of exciting things coming to Destiny 2 soon, such as the return of the Destiny 2 DFA hand cannon.

What Are The Guardian Games?

During the Guardian Games, players will be able to earn medallions for completing Contender and Platinum cards, and then deposit those medallions to help their class win. Contender and Platinum cards are items players can acquire that require certain activities to be completed. Check out the various cards available at the Tower, choose one that suits your playstyle, then complete it to earn medallions. Contender cards reward Gold medallions, whereas Platinum cards grant Platinum medals. Platinum cards require the completion of tougher activities, but those Platinum medallions grant even more progress for your class.

As well as completing cards, players can also make progress through Strike Scoring. While playing the Guardian Games Strike playlist, players can gain additional points for their class by pulling off impressive feats within Strikes. If you’re out of cards or don’t fancy any of the ones on offer, you can still head into the Strike playlist and gain points for your team.

Finally, Guardian Games activities will be broken down into two groups, training and competitive. Training happens from Tuesday to Thursday, and all scores earned here will be considered practice scores. Then, from Friday to Monday, competitive mode kicks in and this is where players can get individual high scores and earn rewards.

  • We are getting a fancy new SMG during the Guardian Games, and we have all the details in our Destiny 2 The Title guide.

Guardian Games Rewards

There would be little reason to compete in the Guardian Games if there wasn’t some loot to be had. Naturally, there will be many drops along the way as you complete activities and fill out those cards, but there will also be more specific loot to chase. The Title is a brand new SMG being added to Destiny 2 as a reward specific to the event. It is a Void energy SMG with a unique origin perk, Classy Contender, which grants class ability energy from final blows. The weapon will have plenty of perks available and a potentially fully Masterworked drop with double perks in the third and fourth columns.

There is a sweet new emblem to go along with Guardian Games this year, and it will be awarded to all players that score in the top per cent of the event. You will need to put in plenty of work to get this emblem, so if you really want it, you better step up for your class.

That is more or less it for the key details of the Destiny 2 Guardian Games for 2022. For more on what is upcoming in the game, check out our Destiny 2 Season 17 guide.
