Destiny 2 Dead Man's Tale is a really powerful exotic scout rifle that any fan of ranged weapons will want to get their hands on. Destiny 2 has enacted a controversial method for saving space for the last few years, by removing content from the game. As a result, many items have become unavailable to newer players, such as the Dead Man's Tale rifle. Thankfully, it has come back through a new method, so here is what you need to get yourself the Destiny 2 Dead Man's Tale.

  • Dead Man's Tale isn't alone in returning from the shadow realm, because the Destiny 2 Hawkmoon is in the same boat.

Collecting exotic items is a big part of Destiny 2, and some exotics are more important than others. Dead Man's Tale is a scout rifle that once dominated the Crucible, and is still a powerful option to this day. Its exotic perk, Cranial Spike, gives bonus damage and faster reloads for landing precision hits. This makes it a great option in both PVE and PVP.

Any fan of scout rifles, and precision weapons in general, really should add the Dead Man’s Tale to their arsenal.

Destiny 2 has a process called "sunsetting", where they remove content from the game in order to reduce the file size and keep the game running smoothly. This decision has been controversial and has led to a decent chunk of the game being stripped away. When a location is removed, so is anything tied to that location, and such was the case with the Dead Man's Tale.

Before the launch of the Witch Queen expansion, Dead Man's Tale was acquired through a quest, which culminated in the Presage mission in the Tangled Shore. With the Tangled Shore gone from the game, we lost the mission and access to the gun. There have been other weapons lost this way before, so the Dead Man's Tale was thought to be gone forever.

Thankfully, that isn't the case. While it isn't available in the exotic kiosk, it can be purchased from Xur on the weekend. Visit Xur, and you will find he now has another tab in his store. Hit the right arrow and you will find the Dead Man's Tale there to buy. It costs 125,000 Glimmer, 200 Legendary Shards, 1 Exotic Cipher and 1 Ascendant Shard. The perks on the weapon will be different each week, so you can take your time and wait for a good roll.

That is everything you need to know to get yourself a Destiny 2 Dead Man's Tale after the Witch Queen expansion. For more Destiny guides, check out our handy explainer on Destiny 2 Lost Sectors.
