Destiny 2 Caretaker Challenge: How To Complete The Base Information Challenge

The Destiny 2 Caretaker Challenge has come around to give Guardians some extra loot. Destiny 2 has had raid challenges for years now, and they have ranged from simple to painfully complicated. The Caretaker Challenge is one that seems quite simple on paper but can be much trickier in execution. Here is everything you need to know to conquer the Destiny 2 Caretaker Challenge.

Destiny 2 Caretaker Challenge: Rules Of The Challenge

As the title implies, this challenge is for the Caretaker boss encounter of the Vow of the Disciple raid. The objective here is to kill the Caretaker but of course, it isn’t that simple. The Caretaker is a massive Abomination who starts in the lower part of the room. He makes his way toward the obelisk in the higher part of the room, and if he reaches it your team will be wiped. Your team must do two things: keep the Caretaker distracted, and fill the obelisk by shooting the symbols on it.

The Destiny 2 Void Of The Disciple Caretaker Challenge requires your team to do that second part in a particular way. Generally speaking, players must enter a room behind the obelisk and gather symbols from there. The symbols appear as glowing items you can pick up, and players must remember which ones they pick up as, when they leave, they must shoot the corresponding symbols on the obelisk. Go in, grab up to three symbols, return to the obelisk, and shoot your symbols when the obelisk calls on you.

To complete the Caretaker Challenge, symbols must be gathered one at a time. Players cannot gather more than one of the symbols from the room at any time. As time is very much of the essence in this encounter, this can really hamper a team.

Destiny 2 Caretaker Challenge: Strategy For Completing The Challenge

This encounter is all about how you distribute your team between the two objectives, managing the Caretaker and gathering symbols for the obelisk. In order to complete this challenge, you are going to need more people to be dedicated to gathering symbols. You could try to have one or two people grabbing them one at a time, but because you must wait for the obelisk to call on players to submit their offering, you can’t really control the speed of the objective.

A better idea is to have three people dedicated to gathering symbols. All three enter the room together, grab one symbol each and return. The other three players will need to manage the Caretaker and manage the ads, while also opening the door to let the symbol team out of the room. They will then shoot their symbols one at a time as the obelisk calls on them. Do this three times to enter the damage phase.

So long as you continue to follow the strategy of only grabbing one symbol per player throughout the encounter, you will complete the Caretaker Challenge. This challenge isn’t massively complicated, but it requires teamwork, timing, and a mastery of the encounter.
