The Dead by Daylight The Dredge killer has recently been revealed as the newest horrific creature to join the roster in Chapter 24. The new killer, The Dredge, is the latest in a long line of Dead by Daylight characters who regularly are added to the game. The existence of The Dredge DBD first became known through some promising leaks. This information came from DBDLeaks on Twitter, someone who has released credible information about upcoming Dead by Daylight content in the past. These leaks turned out to be entirely accurate, the screenshots and details were all correct.

So it would seem that this source is reliable, which makes their claims of Chapter 25 being Resident Evil themed all the more interesting.

As you can see, the Dead by Daylight new killer The Dredge sure is an attractive fellow. Long neck, crazy eyes, teeth going all the wrong way, it’s hard to say what The Dredge is even supposed to be, and that seems likely to be the point. His perks and abilities paint a picture of a Killer who can appear from nowhere and absolutely terrify Survivors.

The perk Septic Touch makes it so that any Survivor who heals themselves or others within The Dredge’s terror radius will get the Blindness and Exhaustion debuffs, and should their healing be interrupted by any means they will suffer these effects for six seconds. This will give Dredge players a huge advantage should they catch healing Survivors unawares.

The next perk is Dissolution, which makes it so that three seconds after damaging a Survivor, the Survivor gets a 12-second timer, and should they fast vault over a pallet in that time, the pallet will be destroyed. The final perk is a strange one but it plays perfectly into The Dredge’s abilities. It is called Darkness Revealed, and what it does is, when The Dredge DBD opens a locker, all Survivors who are within 16 metres of any locker on the map will have their Aura revealed to the Killer for three seconds. This perk has a 30-second cooldown so it cannot be spammed, but there is a good reason for this unusual ability.

Dead By Daylight The Dredge Power - Reign Of Darkness

DBD killer The Dredge has a power called Reign of Darkness, and it has two special abilities. First is The Gloaming - hold the power button to activate it. This creates a Remnant at The Dredge’s location. You can now aim at a locker and press the ability button to teleport into it, or press the attack button to return to the Remnant. From the locker, you can now choose any other locker on the map to teleport to. The Dredge can then emerge from the locker, and if a Survivor is in that locker they can instantly grab them.

Teleporting consumes Power Tokens, so while this ability is very powerful it does have a limit. Exiting a locker will start the cooldown, after which all Power Tokens will be renewed. To mitigate this power, Survivors can put locks on lockers. These only slow The Dredge down, though, they do not stop it. DBD killer The Dredge can break the lock when exiting a locked locker, and each locker can only be locked once.

The second special ability is Nightfall. This is a meter that fills over the course of the game by injuring or hooking Survivors, or teleporting around the map. When the meter fills, Nightfall begins. Nightfall is a 60 second period in which Survivors are in total darkness, The Dredge can teleport even faster with a shorter cooldown, and they have no terror radius so the Survivors get absolutely no warning. Survivors simply have to survive the Nightfall, they cannot stop it but they can reduce its length by destroying The Dredge’s remnant.
