The best Vanguard LMGs is a fierce contest, but not for the reason you might think. Vanguard has a pretty slim list of Light Machine Guns, and of the lot of them, some of them are comparatively much weaker than their counterparts in other Call of Duty games. But, which exactly are the best Vanguard LMGs, and which should be avoided? Here's our guide to the best Vanguard LMGs.

Want a different type of weapon? Pick from one of the many included in these guides:

Best Vanguard LMGs: MG42

Strangely, the very best Vanguard LMG is the one it gives you right out the gate. The MG42 is a hefty sort with a tidy time-to-kill thanks to its high rate of fire. The only real downfall of the MG42 is that it's hefty, which frankly runs through the LMG DNA as it is, so it doesn't actually come with that many problems.

As long as you're happy to play the game as a tank with reduced mobility (which is honestly what you'd expect with a weapon like this anyway) then you won't have any trouble offering some big suppressing fire against your foes.

Best Vanguard LMGs: Type 11

The iron sight on the Type 11 is completely horrible, perhaps more so than any other in the game, but if you can kit the weapon out enough with sights, mags and stocks, it can become a powerhouse.

The gun's stopping power is impressive and can pull off some great kills through thin walls, and it can be incredibly accurate once you're over the iron sights hurdle. As long as you're working on improving its base stats, you could be onto a winner with the Type 11.

Best Vanguard LMGs: DP27

Among the quickest killers in the LMG class, the DP27 had plenty of potential - but squandered a lot of it by being very tough to reign in on the accuracy front. Even when that's taken care of with attachments, it still has a very low rate of fire, meaning you're going to have to be remarkably accurate to score those all-important kills.

Even with all the customisation possible, it's still incredibly hard to control, so it's great when those bullets land - just don't expect it to happen often.

Best Vanguard LMGs: Bren

The Bren is, by a wide margin, the very worst LMG that Vanguard has to offer, and it's one that you unlock surprisingly late. You'd expect that a weapon you'll unlock at level 53 to come with some of the best firepower that the class has to offer, but the abysmal recoil and atrocious damage don't even come close to the others in this list.

Even with all the attachments you can muster, you're still going to miss at least half of the targets you'll look at (or try to), and even if you do, you're not doing any serious damage. Avoid.
