Battlefield 2042 might not seem like the best shooter for SMGs considering its enormous map size, but if you get yourself into the right spots, the SMG can absolutely shred through the massive lobbies. The first of the SMGs you'll be messing around with until level 18 is the PBX-45, which is a solid weapon that some fans may recognise as a new age UMP-45. The best Battlefield 2042 PBX-45 loadouts are really best utilised when you are in the thick of it. We wouldn't really recommend it so much for modes like Conquest, but Breakthrough is far more suitable, as a lot of players will be focusing on just two areas. You are going to want to be agile, fast, and able to duck your way in and out of fire - especially when it comes to vehicles. Constantly be aware of where your cover is, as snipers and marksman rifles can easily pick you off from afar, without you having the slightest clue of their whereabouts.

Unlike the M5A3, where you are mixing up ranges, the best Battlefield 2042 PBX-45 loadouts are dependent on how you prefer your SMG to play. For optics the plane iron sights does work well, but either the Fusion Holo or the K8 Holo are what you are wanting for quick red-dot sights. Chucking on something slightly longer ranged like the 8R Holo also can't hurt for when your enemies are a tad further away. The PBX-45 doesn't have a ton of options for ammunition, but you'll want to swap out between the Close Combat, High Power and Extended Mag, with a big emphasis on the extended mag. Then for your underbarrel the Flashlight can be great for spotting enemies quicker, the Rattlesnake Light Grip helps with range and accuracy and the LS-1 Laser Sight is the one to go for for close range hip firing. Lastly, your barrel should be split between the Champion Muzzle Brake for vertical recoil control, the 6KU Suppressor to avoid minimap detection, and the Extended Barrel for those mid-range shots.

Since you will be in and around the action, you are going to want to focus on health for your best Battlefield 2042 PBX-45 loadouts. For one, the Medical Crate means you can quickly dip to cover and gain back your health, saving you from inevitably being jumped on with low health - and it can also bag you some points for healing others too. Then for your throwable while a frag would be handy, we decided to go for the Prox Sensor. This allows you to throw a sensor down and detect nearby enemies on the minimap. In those tighter spots the Prox Sensor can turn the tide in a hold point.
