Battlefield 2042 Rao: Abilities
Battlefield 2042 Rao is a hacking specialist and as such comes equipped with the Cyberwarfare Suite, which has the ability to disable enemy hardware. However, hardware is a wide term, as Rao can disable tanks, turrets and ranger, but can also manipulate electronic barriers and bridges. Then for his perk, we have the Trojan Network, which will mark enemies after you have downed a hacked soldier.
Battlefield 2042 Rao: Loadout
With his hacking abilities, Battlefield 2042 Rao needs to be within a certain range. You can hack from a reasonable distance, but you won't get much use of it if you are sniping off on the hills. For this loadout then, you'll want either an assault rifle or SMG, but we're going to suggest the starter SMG, the PBX-45, as it can shred through enemies at close range and deals a decent punch at the mid-range. Any of the three secondary weapons will do, depending on which you are more comfortable with. For your Gadget, we suggest picking up the IBA Armour Plate, as you'll ducking and weaving around some intense enemy-filled areas. To help you avoid their incoming fire, the Smoke Grenade throwable is our final pick for this loadout.
Battlefield 2042 Rao: Tips
Battlefield 2042 Rao can make a significant impact for your team if you use your Cyberwarfare Suite correctly. This means constantly searching for things to hack, and there is very little off limits. You can turn the weapons off on a helicopter hovering over your team, close off a road by raising some barriers, deactivate one of those pesky Rangers. What helps is that you don't necessarily need to spot the hackable object first. Instead you can run across the battlefield with your hacking ability active and it will highlight potential hacks. While you might not see the immediate benefit to hacking random things off in the distance, as part of his Trojan Network perk, you can back some additional spotting points, when someone you hacked is downed.
When you are in the thick of it however, it is better to assess the type of vehicles that an enemy team has. With the far more accessible approach to vehicles in Battlefield 2042, there is almost always a tank or assault vehicle sitting back and completely stopping your team from advancing. While explosives will do the trick, the Recoilless M5 can tickle a tank more than damage it sometimes and it can seem impossible to get close enough to stick a C5 Explosive on a tank's side. Using your hack, you can disable a tank's weapons, giving your team the time to advance. If you aren't quite close enough, or need a better angle (hacks need a direct line of sight), using the smoke grenade to traverse means you have a slimmer chance of being laser beamed.
However, you should also be careful when you initiate a hack. Depending on the severity of the hack, be it opening a door, or hacking a helicopter, the time it takes varies. Don't jump out in front of a tank thinking you'll hack it before it manages to stop you. Be smart about your cover and don't put yourself at immediate risk. You can deal far more damage to the enemy team if you are cautious.
