Best Apex Legends Weapons Tier List

Best Apex Legends Weapons Tier List

Apex Legends has a large pool of lootable weapons, from shotguns, to ARs, to snipers. Gold variations and hop-ups come and go, and the majority of weapons face buffs and nerfs over the course of the seasons, to manage balance issues. Then, of course, there are care package weapons – the most powerful and best weapons in the game.

For this tier list, GGRecon will rank all the Apex Legends weapons available in the game from Season 9 onwards, from S to D, with the assumption these weapons include their hop-ups. The rankings are based on usability, damage, DPS body and headshot, ammo capacity and RPM. The tier rankings also account for single, burst, and auto-fire variants.

As of Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy, new hop-ups in the form of Shatter Caps and Deadeye’s Tempo are in the game, and the Hammerpoint and Skullpiercer hop-ups have been removed.

Apex Legends Weapon Tier List

S TIER – BOCEK BOW, KRABER .50-CAL SNIPER (CP), PROWLER BURST PDW (CP), R-99

Bocek Bow

The newest weapon to enter Apex Legends is the Bocek Bow, the first of its kind in the game, and bringing with it a new weapon class - Marksman. The Bow is already being deemed "OP" (as all new weapons are...) but it really is robust. Able to be fitted with sights from a 1x to a 3x, the Bow is capable of short-range engagements, and snipe-offs. It can also utilise both new hop-ups (Deadeye's Tempo and Shatter Caps), meaning the Bocek Bow is a force to be reckoned with in both Battle Royale and Arenas. With max headshot damage of 123, it can be fatal.

Kraber .50-cal Sniper

Anyone who has used or been downed by this sniper can agree; it is disgusting. 435 headshot damage can be done using this 50-cal – a guaranteed knockdown on any player, regardless of size profile or helmet rarity. Careful with those no-scopes though, only 12 “special ammo” bullets are included. The vilest (and most powerful) thing about the Kraber is the bullets penetrate enemies, passing through them even when it results in a knock, meaning multiple opponents can be shot with one bullet. Due to all of this, there's no doubt that the Kraber is placed in Tier S of our Apex Legends weapons tier list.

Prowler Burst PDW

The Prowler does absolute bits. This SMG uses a maximum of 210 special ammo for a full magazine capacity of a whopping 35. It is the highest DSP weapon, landing it firmly in Tier S for that reason.

R-99

The R-99 submachine gun is a firecracker of a weapon, spitting out bullets at an astounding 1080 RPM, the fastest of any gun in the game. In Season 6, the R-99 received the god-like position of a CP gun, existing only within Care Packages which drop intermittently throughout matches, and across the map, but has since returned to ground loot status. This gun shreds through opponents lightning fast and has to be in S Tier of the Apex Legends weapon tier list.

Season 9 Weapon Tier List
Bloodhound brandishing the Kraber

A TIER – EVA-8 AUTO, MASTIFF, TRIPLE TAKE, VOLT SMG, 30-30 REPEATER, PEACEKEEPER, DEVOTION, M600 SPITFIRE, R-301 CARBINE, WINGMAN, LONGBOW DMR, ALTERNATOR

EVA-8 Auto

The EVA-8 shotgun is incredibly powerful, and thanks to the viral post that enlightened Apex players about the fact that you can hold the trigger to continuously shoot – it’s lethal. With an Epic shotgun bolt, it can deliver devastating burst shots of up to 108 headshot damage.

Mastiff

Although the Mastiff’s damage was decreased due to its new rarity status (from Legendary/Care Package), the Mastiff is still a punchy shotgun. The iron sights of this shotgun are also some of the nicest in the game, and the reload speed is decent. Smack a purple (Epic) shotgun bolt on the Mastiff, and it becomes a beast, with high accuracy, a high of 128 headshot damage on opponents with no helmet, (on Fortified legends), and 6 shots to play with.

Triple Take

With a new status as a Care Package weapon, and a new class (Marksman), the Triple Take is finally getting its moment in the spotlight, and a promotion from B Tier for Season 9.

The Triple Take has very little projectile drop at long range (as Bangalore likes to say) and comes stocked with a 9-ammo clip, and an increased fire rate of 1.3 (up from 1.2).

With a Precision Choke (which is now built-in as standard and can be toggled on and off), the TT is definitely one to pick up.

Volt SMG

The newest SMG to enter the Apex Legends loot pool is the Volt. The full-auto energy submachine gun (another throwback weapon from the Titanfall series) boasts an impressive 720 RPM, and even though the default mag capacity is a mere 19 bullets, each of those does their bit to down your pesky opponent. Find a Level 3 mag, and that only shoots up to 26 shots, but the TTK is insane despite this. The headshot damage sits at double the R-99 at 23, so it’s worth picking up this small but deadly weapon.

30-30 Repeater

The 30-30 Repeater is a single shot Marksman weapon, which operates similarly to a semi-auto sniper, and packs a real punch. A maximum ammo capacity of 12 heavy rounds give the 30-30 lots of shots to play with, and ADSing charges the shot each time. While the recoil may be a little hard to handle, slapping one of the new hop-ups on this bad boy (Shatter Caps) will help a lot.

Peacekeeper

The day has finally come – the Peacekeeper is back on the ground as floor loot. Demoted from its Care Package status, the PK has taken some nerfs. Pellet damage is reduced to 9 (from 10), and reload and rechamber times have been increased. Still devastating in the right hands, the Peacekeeper is a force to be reckoned with.

Devotion

The energy weapon was once a Care Package only gun, back in Season 5, but was since downgraded, and the clip size reduced back to the original values based on Extended Energy Mag rarity (36/40/44/48) or a little more if you're Rampart. The ramp-up still seems… very fast this season, and when the Devotion fires at full pelt, 900 RPM lasers opponents into deathboxes in an instant, meaning it has to be in Tier A of this Apex Legends weapons tier list.

M600 Spitfire

The Spitfire is one of the best weapons to use in Apex Legends. The M600 Spitfire uses heavy rounds, rumoured to slow enemies, and with the maximum ammo mag capping out at a ridiculous 55, this LMG is high damage per shot and can back up that damage from the first shot, a further 54 times. The magazine capacity is the highest in the game and coupled with low recoil and a 2x headshot multiplier, you’d be mad to not pick up this beast of a gun, especially given the Season 6 buff of improved recoil controllability.

R-301 Carbine

The R-301 Carbine is an assault rifle that uses light ammo, consistently performs at close, medium, and long-range, and has a high fire rate, as well as good accuracy. The only drawbacks are the slightly lower damage numbers, producing hits of 28 headshot and 14 body. The single fire on the Carbine is as good as its auto counterpart (even better with the Anvil Reciever), just make sure to click back to auto mode before any close-range engagements. Anyone who has ever picked up this AR should agree it deserves its A Tier status in this Apex Legends weapon tier list.

Wingman

The Wingman is the favourite pistol of highly skilled players and winds up being seen in most pro-player loadouts during competitive play. As the Skullpiercer gold hop-up is now vaulted, the headshot damage is decreased, meaning the Wingman cannot sit in S Tier, even if the headshot multiplier has increased to 2.15.

Longbow DMR

The scourge of previous seasons, the Longbow is lethal, and it echoes throughout the battlefield, striking fear into the hearts of those with Level 1 helmets. The DMR boasts a very large mag capacity for a sniper, and great hip-fire accuracy in close calls. The low fire rate is really the only downside. Let’s not talk about the Skullpiercer…

Alternator

Firing through two alternating barrels, this mini SMG has an impressive 600 RPM stat, with easy-to-control recoil as well as good tap-fire control. Although the damage stats aren’t stratospheric (between 13 and 24) 27 bullets in the Level 3 mag can do major damage. The low recoil is really what lands the Alternator in Tier A, as does the tight hipfire spread.

Caustic + Spitfire = RIP

B TIER – HEMLOCK BURST AR, VK-47 FLATLINE, RE-45, G7 SCOUT

Hemlock Burst AR

The Hemlock allows the holder to switch between single and burst fire, and the word to describe the AR is – good. Good at medium range, a good burst rate of fire, this weapon is simple yet effective. The high damage stats and accuracy pull this gun up from a lower rank to a comfortable position in Tier B. In Season 6, several mini-buffs were given to the Hemlock, including slightly reduced recoil on the second and third shot.

VK-47 Flatline

Although the Flatline lost some of its allure once the Anvil Receiver hop-up was vaulted in Season 5, making the single-fire option no more powerful than the auto version, it still boasts high damage, performance and good ammo depletion time sans hop-up. A Level 3 (Epic) mag will provide you with 30 shots, each one able to deal 38 headshot damage and 19 body damage on an averaged size opponent. The only con to this assault rifle is slightly poor accuracy stats compared to its sister ARs like the Carbine, and poor long-range performance.

RE-45 Auto

The RE-45 is an automatic pistol that uses light ammo, can hold 25 bullets in a Level 3 clip, and is a very common ground loot gun. The bullet spread is airtight but does not zoom in when aiming down sights. Its sheer speed is what lands it in Tier B instead of C of this Apex Legends weapons tier list, as even though it doesn’t do impressive damage numbers, you can catch an enemy off guard in those first engagements with this tiny yet furious Chihuahua of a pistol.

G7 Scout

The G7 Scout was recategorised from a Sniper Rifle to an Assault Rifle and now a Marksman weapon, and in doing so, Respawn Entertainment were forced to downgrade the headshot damage, which was the meta for a good while in competitive arenas. The G7 is reliable, complete with penetrating bullets (like the Kraber) and can still do decent 60 headshot damage. RIP Double Tap. The G7 now suffers from reduced accuracy thanks to its recategorisation, and the hipfire has an increased spread size, and the ADS is much slower too. Cheers, Respawn.

Apex Legends Weapon Tier List

C TIER – HAVOC, CHARGE RIFLE, SENTINEL, L-STAR

Havoc

Spin up the turbocharged Havoc, and have at it. With a top mag capacity of 36, the Havoc has its ups and downs, but belongs in C Tier, thanks to the unruly recoil pattern and super slow reload speed.

Charge Rifle

The Charge Rifle charged into battle (get it?) in Season 3 as the new gun, and this sniper was touted as being OP from the off. After many challenging balance issues for Respawn, the Charge Rifle is now firmly in Tier B. The bullet-beam deals damage in ticks as it burns the enemy down sights, then can rise to a maximum of 45 damage beyond this, following the opponent as they try to avoid the precise burn of the bullets. As of Season 6, the mag size has increased to a chonky 8 bullets, but will use two ammo per shot. The long reload time really spoils the fun here, as does the lack of Extended mag.

Sentinel

The Sentinel was the new gun introduced into the world of Apex Legends in Season 4, and even though it’s not quite yet a favourite of many players, it has so much potential. Despite not having a real hop-up, the ability to charge the gun with two Shield Cells to get a “Disruptor” effect is pretty fatal for your enemies. The bolt-action mechanic is why the Sentinel is not a higher tier, as the time between shots is painfully long, and pair that with shocking hip-fire accuracy and the Sentinel can confidently call Tier C its permanent home.

L-STAR

Again, another “new” gun from Season 2, the L-STAR Energy LMG was a care package weapon, but quickly nerfed and moved to the floor loot pool. Enemies scatter and panic when they see the red flash of the L-STAR’s horrendously fast fire rate, but overheating is its main obstacle. After a mere three seconds of continuous firing, your character will be forced to “reload”. Eh, it’s fine.

Weapon Tier List Season 9

D TIER - MOZAMBIQUE, P2020

Mozambique

The most memed weapon, the Mozambique, stays in Tier D for Season 9 - to no one’s surprise. However, the addition of the Hammerpoint hop-up did give it a slight leg-up to its non-kitted counterpart, but now that has been removed, it’s back to being a little crappy. The now six shots are meant to “make up for” the removal of the Hammerpoint hop-up – it does not.

P2020

The other Hammerpoint user, the P2020 pistol, is reasonably useful at the start of a match, but again, sans Hammerpoint Rounds it’s honestly rubbish. The Season 9 patch notes state that the P2020’s baseline power was brought “up”, thanks to a new bullet damage number of 18 (up from 15), but it’s still not enough to crawl above D Tier.

The only thing worse than a standard Mozambique is a standard P2020. Maximum 23 headshot damage means this weapon is Tier D, no contest. Come up against an opponent with ANY OTHER GUN in the first engagement, and you’re bound to lose.

Tier List for Season 9 Weapons
Mozambique Shotgun

So there you have it, from the highs of a Mastiff to the lows of a Mozambique, the Apex Legends weapon pool includes both OP and LOW-P weapons to pick from. Just make sure you keep an eye on those care package drops…
