An Apex Legends Seer nerf is on the horizon. Right out of the gate, Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence’s new legend, Seer, was undeniably overpowered (OP). Anyone that has faced off against the Apex Legends Seer abilities will tell you that Seer is OP and that an Apex Legends Seer nerf is overdue.

Thankfully, word is that the anticipated Seer nerf will be arriving soon. But why and how is Seer OP in the first place? And in what way exactly do the Apex Legends developers plan to nerf Seer?

The short answer? Yes, Seer is OP.

The long answer? Seer’s entire kit is overly strong and unlike other legends in Apex Legends, his abilities have zero real counters.

Seer’s Passive ability serves as an all-seeing eye. The heartbeat sensor tracker has a 75-metre range and can reveal enemies positions at all times. Plus, enemy players have no way to know if they are revealed by Seer on the heartbeat sensor or not. To make matters worse, Heart Seeker is a Passive ability, so it’s always active and has no cooldown.

Seer’s Tactical Ability is an all-in-one tool of oppression. Focus of Attention:

  • Deals damage
  • Reveals enemy locations
  • Reveals enemy health bars
  • Applies flashbang effect
  • Interrupts actions (healing, revives, legend abilities, etc.)

Finally, Seer’s Ultimate ability is essentially legal wallhacks. Enemies inside of Seer’s Exhibit sphere are revealed to Seer’s entire team for 30 seconds. The reveal provides perfect information as well - including which direction opponents are moving in. To top it off, the Seer Ultimate cooldown is a mere 90 seconds. Just a minute and a half after Seer pops the ability, he can use it again.

Seer provides his squad with constant reconnaissance, keeping his opponents under surveillance at all times. All together, Seer’s abilities make for quite the overpowered legend.

Fortunately, an Apex Legends Seer nerf is imminent. In a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) post on Reddit,  developers at Respawn Entertainment confirmed that a nerf was on its way.  Gameplay Engineer RSPN-Travis admits that Seer “is probably a bit too strong at the moment” and will be “receiving some balance updates in an upcoming patch.”

Seer haters can rejoice because it looks like we won’t need to wait long for the incoming Apex Legends seer nerf. A tweet from the official Apex Legends Twitter on August 10 claims that a Seer balance update is scheduled for next week.

So how might the developers be reeling in Seer’s overpowered kit?

A quick and easy fix to Seer’s Passive ability would be to decrease the range and remove the capability to pinpoint an enemy's exact location. Keep the provided information vague and reduce its effective range.

Seer’s Tactical ability could be brought in line by decreasing its radius and removing its ability to deal damage. As things stand, it’s hard to miss with Seer’s Tactical. The Apex Legends developers should make it so hitting an opponent with Seer’s Tactical requires higher precision aim.

Additionally, Seer’s Tactical should lose its ability to deal damage. It already interrupts actions and reveals enemies and their health for eight seconds straight. Dealing damage on impact is just an unnecessary cherry on top and is part of what currently makes Seer OP.

Seer’s Ultimate ability needs a cooldown extension. Seer mains should not be able to toss down a massive sphere that reveals enemy movements for thirty seconds all willy-nilly. Right now, Seer can use his Ultimate pretty much every fight. Extend the Seer ultimate cooldown and force Seer players to use the ability with more discretion.

Altogether, these suggested Seer nerfs would bring Seer’s power in line with that of the rest of the Legend cast without damaging the core design philosophy of his kit. Even with all of these nerfs, Seer would still be a strong legend choice.
