Apex Legends Season 13 is upon us, and the new season means new content and changes are on the way. Apex Legends is looking to bring another stacked season to fans with a new Legend, a monster-sized map change, a new battle pass, and plenty more tweaks and fixes. There can be a lot to sift through with big changes like this, so we have gone through it all to bring you the essential details. Here is everything you need to know to get started with Apex Legends Season 13.

Apex Legends Season 13 Update: Newcastle

Newcastle is the new Legend joining the game here in Season 13. He is the older brother of Bangalore, sharing a complex history with his sibling. He is a defensive Legend, with abilities focused on shields and putting up walls.

His Tactical Ability is Mobile Shield, a mobile drone that projects a moving shield in front of Newcastle. His passive is Retrieve the Wounded, which allows him to drag downed teammates while reviving them, while a shield protects them. His Ultimate is Castle Wall, in which Newcastle leaps to a teammate or a specified area and slams the ground, creating a wall for cover.

Apex Legends Season 13 Update: Storm Point Map Changes

Storm Point is getting its first major update in Season 13. The first and certainly most major change is the presence of an absolutely massive creature, lying dead on the beach. Known as the Downed Beast, this giant creature that was brought down by the Legends themselves is a new POI on the Storm Point map. Players can explore the insides of the creature, for some reason, with multiple ways in and out. The Downed Beast is a high tier loot location so be sure to check it out when you can.

In addition to the Downed Beast, IMC Armouries have sprung up around the island. These dormant facilities were activated by the seismic activity of the beast’s approach, bringing even more weaponry to the region. Armouries have valuable loot, but getting your hands on it is no simple feat. Once inside, activate the Armoury to face off against waves of Spectres. They keep coming for 60 seconds and the more you defeat, the more loot you will receive. The loot you receive will be tailored to your loadout, so be sure to know what you want to use going in.

Apex Legends Season 13 Update: Ranked Changes

There are big changes coming to ranked play in Season 13. The primary focuses for ranked going forward will be teamplay and better competition. For better teamplay, Apex Legends will remove the RP cap for getting kills. All players on a team will receive RP for getting kills, but the player who gets them is no longer penalised for going over a cap. Instead, there will be diminishing returns on RP as a player gets more and more kills. Also, the assist timer has been extended from 10 seconds to 15 seconds.

One of the ways Apex Legends is striving for better competition is by making ranking more accurate. One of the ways it is doing this is with tier demotions. Now, players will receive demotions where appropriate to better reflect their ability. Getting demoted will bring the player back down to the halfway point of the previous rank.

This should create a more accurate spread of player skill levels across the rankings, and prevent players from getting stuck in a skill level they are not ready for. To prevent constant and frustrating changes, players will get a three-game grace upon ranking up, in which they will not be demoted.

Furthermore, RP rewards have been changed up. RP is granted for getting kills, but going forward there will be reduced RP for players who get kills but finish in the bottom half, or for players who placed highly with few kills. Basically, if you want that sweet RP you need to get kills and at least finish in the top ten.

Apex Legends Season 13 Update: Battle Pass

A new season means a new battle pass. The Saviours Battle Pass is available from the in-game store for 950 Apex Coins, or you can get the Battle Pass Bundle for 2800 Coins to get a headstart. There are plenty of new cosmetics for Fuse, Pathfinder, Mad Maggie, Newcastle and more. There are brand new reactive weapon skins, and new skydive emotes.

You do not have to put money down to get something from the battle pass as there are free rewards too, such as a new skin for Crypto and multiple Apex packs and weapon skins.
