EA announced that an Apex Legends next-gen upgrade would arrive in 2021, but that obviously didn't come to fruition. Players are still able to play Apex via backwards compatibility, but the experience isn't fully optimised for new-gen hardware and maxes out at 1440p resolutions. However, as of today, you can now play the full next-gen version.
There are a few promising features in this next-gen version which players have been asking about, for a long time. Firstly, for those with 4K televisions or monitors, both of these editions will output at 4K resolution, letting you taking part in the action with the best visual fidelity yet. To top this off, there is full support for gameplay at 60Hz, and even HDR to give you another option to improve the looks.
Some other nice additions, include higher resolution shadow maps, meaning you can skulk in the dark corners a lot easier, and there is better LOD overall, letting you see further and with more clarity.
- 2022 could be a big year for Apex, especially with rumours swirling around of an Apex Legends TV Show.
