Apex Legends Mobile has been specifically designed for mobile play, with “streamlined controls and thoughtful optimisations that result in the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone.” Therefore, skills on Apex Legends' PC and console versions may not transfer, as the game is pretty much brand-new in terms of setup.

Will There Be Apex Legends Mobile Crossplay?

It has been confirmed that Apex Legends Mobile will not have a crossplay feature due to the design changes between both versions of the game. This means players on Apex Legends Mobile will be unable to play with the PC and console audience, but both iOS and Android users are able to play together.

Announced by EA's CEO Andrew Wilson at a 2021 Q3 financial results briefing, he was quoted as saying "EA will be working with a Chinese partner to “create a mobile Apex Legends that will be released globally."

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen went on to add that "rolling mobile out in China, you need to have a partner, and we’re, as we’ve said in the prepared remarks today, working with a partner there. We’re very excited about the opportunity.”

Since then, we have found out via the Apex Legends FAQ on the EA website, that the game was developed with the help of Lightspeed and Quantum Studios, who are a part of Tencent.

That's all for our primer on what we know about the upcoming Apex Legends Mobile, and you'll be able to jump in with season one on May 17.
