Amnesia: The Bunker is set to be the next game in the iconic horror franchise which changed the genre during the 2010s, this time introducing combat and more resource management similar to survival horror games like Resident Evil

The Amnesia franchise has had various ups and downs over the past decade, with the series suffering from the proliferation of horror games that focused on running and hiding, rather than facing your fears head-on.

Amnesia: The Bunker is set to make a well-needed change to the formula, so here's everything you need to know about the game, including the release date, gameplay, and more.

Amnesia: The Bunker release date

Amnesia: The Bunker is set to release on June 6, 2023, roughly seven months after its initial announcement.

The game was first confirmed for March 2023, before being pushed back to May 16, then May 23, before being delayed to its current release dat of June 6.

Amnesia: The Bunker trailers

The first trailer for Amnesia: The Bunker was released on December 1, 2022, which also announced the game. It featured about 50 seconds of gameplay footage, showing the character exploring a dark room before opening a door to a bright hallway where a monster can be heard off-screen. It was notable as it showed off the player using a pistol, which is a first for the series.

After the release of the first trailer, Frictional Games began releasing short gameplay clips that were no longer than a minute, detailing different aspects of the gameplay, ranging from ways you could open a door, to the different traps available to the player.

The next major trailer was the story trailer, released on March 17, which detailed the general premise of the game. After this, footage of a 10-minute gameplay demo was made available at the start of May.

What do we know about Amnesia: The Bunker gameplay?

Amnesia: The Bunker is a first-person survival horror game set in a non-linear open world bunker during WWI. You'll play a soldier called Henri Clement, who becomes trapped in the bunker after the officers abandon it and block the way with rubble, forcing you to find a way to escape.

The game will allow you to explore the bunker non-linearly to complete various objectives and learn more about what happened in there Throughout all of this, a monster will also be hunting you around the bunker. The monster responds dynamically to your choices and actions, forcing you to manage resources to help avoid or escape it.

It will also feature elements of randomisation, which along with the non-linear nature will make every playthrough unique to you.

What is the Amnesia: The Bunker price?

According to the developers, Frictional Games, Amnesia: The Bunker will cost $24.99 on launch. They haven't confirmed how this translates to other currencies, but we expect it to be roughly £20 and €25.
