You Can Now Play Konami's P.T. In Virtual Reality

You Can Now Play Konami's P.T. In Virtual Reality

It's one of the most famous video game horror stories (physically and metaphorically), but now, we're revisiting Konami's P.T., aka the Silent Hills Playable Teaser. As we wait for even a sniff that a new Silent Hill is on the way, we can't seem to shake the spectre of P.T.

Released as a free download on the PlayStation Network in 2014, P.T. gave us a first look at Silent Hill since 2012's Silent Hill: Downpour. With Konami legend Hideo Kojima, horror maestro Guillermo del Toro, and The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus taking the lead role, everything was looking great.

By now, we're sure you all know the public split of Kojima from Konami led to the project falling into development hell. The above trio would move on to work on Kojima Productions' Death Stranding, while Silent Hill has stayed silent since. Well, until now.

Can You Play P.T. In VR?

Although it's not quite an official release from Sony, redditor u/ROBYER1 has recreated the horrifying looping hallway of Silent Hills. They've pulled this off in Blender, which is a free 3D and animation program that includes refreshed lighting.

This now means horror hounds can access the P.T. hallway and bathroom on Oculus Quest's virtual home environments. Basically, you can turn your own home into Silent Hills - if you think you're brave enough. For those that live in smaller abodes, you can use the roomscale mode to simply wander around P.T.

This isn't a fully-playable version of P.T., so don't expect to be solving any puzzles. That being said, ROBYER1 has promised there are a few scares and surprises hidden in there. What, does that mean a Pyramid Head bobblehead?

What's Going On With Silent Hill?

Barely a week goes by that we don't run a story on Silent Hill - or a lack of it. Only recently, we said that the Game Awards reveal of Slitterhead has pretty much scuppered our plans of a Silent Hill revival. Just after that, Guillermo del Toro said he'd love to see the series return, which once again reignited our hopes.

Let's not forget there was also talk about Kojima resurrecting the name, while Reedus himself also teased a revival. Unfortunately, 2021 has been plagued with talk about a Silent Hill return/multiple games in the works.

No one is quite sure where the rights lie, but come on, Konami, Kojima, or someone new would be mad to pass up on the chance to opening up this twisted town once again. For now though, play P.T. on Oculus and experience what could be the scariest experience since Capcom released Resident Evil 7 in VR.
