The Dallas Fuel have signed hit scan specialist Ki-hyo "Xzi" Jung and complete their roster for the 2021 season. With this, Dallas Fuel have signed seven players from their head coach's former Korean Contenders team Element Mystic. Only Joon "Fielder" Kwon has never played for the South Korean elite talent forge.

Mike "hastr0" Rufail, founder and Chief Gaming Officer for Envy, the parent company of Dallas Fuel, had promised at the beginning of the off-season that his team would be making large improvements. The first step had been to part ways with everyone of the 2020 roster except Dong-ha "Doha" Kim. Under the leadership of head coach Hee-won "RUSH" Yun, the team proceeded to pick up high calibre players from the Paris Eternal in Yeong-han "SP9RK1E" Kim and Han-been "Hanbin" Choi. Later, one of the best main tanks in 2020 Eui-Seok "Fearless" Lee was added, setting the tone for how the off-season will go. The only discernable weaknesses of this roster is a perceived inflexibility when it comes to hit scan heroes, with potential double hit scan metas requiring either SP9RK1E or Doha to pick up those heroes. Moreover, the backline with Jung-keun "Rapel" Kim, Seung-soo "Jecse" Lee, and Joon "Fielder" Kwon at least has some question marks behind it when compared to other top teams like the Philadelphia Fusion or the San Francisco Shock.

In most other regards, the team has assembled an elite roster of players all excelling at particular playstyles. The team, therefore, promises to have high peaks that could put them in title contention, with a top-five finish in North America being likely. Rufail also shared that this was the last announcement for the season, with the roster of eight now assembled. Many Overwatch League teams have shared that their roster-building strategy for the 2021 season would be trending towards a structure of "mean and lean" sizes, indicating that deep benches of up to six substitute players wouldn't be their chosen strategy for 2021.
