New 6v6 Game XDefiant Is Already Being Dubbed ‘Ubisoft’s Call Of Duty’
You definitely don’t need us to tell you, but it needs to be said - Call Of Duty is a massively influential game series. Its incredible popularity that stemmed from the era of muddy graphics and furious obscenities yelled down low-quality microphones seeped into the gaming industry and allowed for the FPS to truly take over.
A lot of titles have taken influence from its styles and gameplay over the years, and it’s no surprise that these games have gone on to join Call of Duty at the top.
And now, there’s a new game that’s preparing to take on the top dog, and its influence is pretty obvious to fans.
Ubisoft Reveal Tom Clancy’s XDefiant
Yesterday (July 19) saw the reveal of XDefiant, the new game in the Tom Clancy universe that brings together factions from other franchise titles to face off in free-to-play 6v6 arenas. It brings four classes - tank, assault, support and healer, to inject a little teamwork into the mix with enough weight to shift the tide of gameplay if used correctly. The reveal came in the shape of a new trailer, and we think you’ll agree - it looks a little familiar.
Fans have noticed it looks a lot like a certain shooter series, and are not impressed.

Whether or not a new Splinter Cell title is on the way still is up in the air, but when looking at XDefiant without burdening it with the disappointment of the series’ long time fans, it looks like a fun shooter. Most players are bound to at least give it a go as it’s a free-to-play title, but we’ll have to wait and see if gamers will warm to XDefiant. Fingers crossed for the team - because if we know anything about gamers, it’s that they’re not so quick to forget.
