Xbox Mini-Fridges Could Be Available In Late 2021
Ever since the Xbox Series X’s reveal, the jokes about its appearance began. It was truly inevitable, and something that the console would never be able to escape. Gags about the next great step into gaming looking like an alien monolith or the black box of NASA’s design sprouted, but no comparison was as wide or accurate as of the Xbox Series X’s resemblance to a kitchen refrigerator.
The bold step into the next gaming generation was reduced to a meme thanks to its image, and many gamers saw it as somewhere to keep their cans of Monster rather than their vessel to the new video game experience. But now the joke’s on us, as it looks like the memes are becoming a reality.
When Are The Xbox Mini Fridges Coming?
An Xbox representative on Twitter might have leaked the existence of the very real Xbox Series X mini-fridges in a short interaction with an influencer. In an initial tweet, Xbox’s own Aaron Greenberg shared some images of a press package from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s energy drink company ZOA. The package contained some drinks, some Xbox-themed goodies, and most importantly, an Xbox Series X mini-fridge.

Social media influencer Colteastwood replied with a snap of his gaming setup, suggesting he had the best place to keep his own fridge. Aaron replied to this tweet, seemingly confirming the existence of consumer mini-fridges.
“I love that setup Colt”, he says. “Xbox Mini Fridges for everyone later this year!”
This seems legit, and we have faith in this semi-announcement that at some point later this year fans can get their hands on the mini-fridge that their jokes had a hand in creating.
What Were The First Xbox Fridges?
Of course, these rumoured future mini-fridges aren’t Xbox’s first bold steps into the world of refrigeration. Xbox’s PR seems to have a good sense of humour, as they sent the likes of Snoop Dogg and YouTube personality iJustine some full-size Xbox Series X fridges. You know, because it’s funny.
Perhaps these stunts were the first instance of an idea a long time in the making, and perhaps these fridges have been in development since developers first saw the gags surface online.
Whether these mini-fridges will be sold outside of the US or not, the fact that they even exist at all is a testament to the hold that meme culture has on companies even as big as Microsoft. If you ever tweeted about how silly the Series X looks, pat yourself on the back. You did this.
