That didn't take long. Only hours after Cloud9 had announced the signing of William "mezii" Merriman, the bombshell signing of Özgür "woxic" Eker was revealed by general manager Henry "HenryG" Greer. The Turkish star AWPer will be joining Cloud9 on a three-year deal that Cloud9 values at $1,365,000 (~ £1,050,000). The 22-year old is considered one of the scenes shining youngsters, currently sitting at #15 of hltv.org's player ratings. He joined from German esports organisation mousesports who he had been inactive for since the end of August 2020.

GM HenryG explained that he sees woxic becoming instrumental to Cloud9 going forward.

He said: "An utterly unique presence in the server, unorthodox and mysterious in all the ways that excite us, Woxic's essence will make up a core portion of our competitive DNA and signal the world's best players to come and round out our five man line-up."

Blasting onto the scene with Hellraisers in 2017, woxic quickly developed into a star player especially the AWP. Eventually, he transferred to mousesports in 2019 where he remained for one and a half years through which the team enjoyed great success with wins like the ESL Pro League Season 10 title and the ICE Challenge 2020. Since the beginning of spring this year, the team's performances dropped considerably which also reflected in woxic's play.

Woxic is the third signing after the aforementioned mezii and the first pick-up of Alex "ALEX" McMeekin. At least two more signings are expected to be revealed soon.
