What Is Werewolf By Night? Cast, Story Explained and Release Date
It's safe to say that MCU fans didn't have any reason to see Werewolf By Night coming.
We haven't seen a real monster show up in the cinematic universe since it kicked off in 2008, despite being the building blocks that Marvel was built on, and the supernatural has always been something mostly untouched.
So, to come back to a very old story in a black-and-white horror-comedy one-shot is certainly left-field for what we've come to expect from Marvel, so we're probably going to need some help wrapping our heads around it. Here's everything we know about Werewolf at Night.
Werewolf By Night Cast
Marvel seems to have kept Werewolf by Night incredibly well stacked, even in spite of the special's lack of connection to the wider world of the MCU.
Leading the fantastic cast is Gael García Bernal, playing lead Jack Russell, our titular Werewolf, with Laura Donnelly joining as Elsa Bloodstone and Harriet Sansom Harris as Verusa.
Also joining the cast are Leonardo Nam as Simon, Eugenie Bondurant as Linda, Kirk R. Thatcher as Jovan, and Al Hamacher as Billy Swan.
Werewolf By Night Story
The story of the special sees a group of monster hunters converging on Bloodstone Manor, after their leader dies. They're there to compete in a deadly competition that will whittle them down one by one, and its winner will receive a mysterious and powerful relic that will bring them face to face with an incredibly nasty beast.
The show is combining the writing talents of Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron, with Quinn having worked on Hawkeye, and Cameron having been a part of WandaVision and Moon Knight.
Werewolf By Night Release Date
The new special isn't all that far off, and it's got a fittingly spooky release date too. Werewolf by Night will be launching with more than enough time for fans to gear up for Halloween, as it's coming on October 7 2022.
With only a week to go until the special's launch, we're excited to see what awaits us in the first real step into horror for the MCU.
