On Friday January 10th, Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward announced what it has been working on in the first community update of 2020.

What is coming?

In addition to Gunfight 1v1, a three-versus-three mode is currently in the works too. The popular mode is currently the highlight of Modern Warfare, with the community seemingly enjoying Gunfight as opposed to the standard multiplayer modes.

Sticking with Gunfight, the extremely popular in-game tournament mode will be making a welcome return to the game. The developer is currently working on fixing bugs and adding brand-new rewards for winning the tournament.

Alongside Gunfight 3v3, additional loadout slots will be added into multiplayer. Currently, there are only five class slots for players to create their ideal combination of weapons and perks to enter the battlefield with. Adding more class slots will allow players to create even more classes without deleting or modifying classes. A great addition to multiplayer.

Multiplayer mode will also see more double-XP, double weapon XP and more double battle pass tier events taking place throughout the year. Great for leveling up your character, weapons and progressing through the 100 tiers of content that are available in the battle pass.

What does it mean for you?

Players will now have even more playlists to get stuck into which is always a sure-fire way to keep the game fresh. The addition of new cosmetic items from the Gunfight tournament gives players a reason to play and as the only form of competitive playlist in the game, matches are always full of action and lots of fun!

Known Issues

With all these new additions coming into Modern Warfare in the near future, here are some of the issues that Infinity Ward are aware of and are currently working on:

  • Lighting flickering on various maps.
  • Mission collision on containers on Cargo.
  • Platinum skins not unlocking properly.
  • Out of map exploits on Ground War.
  • Platinum and Damascus camos glare while ADS.

Amongst these known issues, there is now a Trello board which allows players to report new bugs when they are found, along with other things that are on the radar of Infinity Ward and are likely to be fixed in future patches.

Future Content

Looking into the future, content on Modern Warfare is set to roll out like this. On Tuesday, new playlist updates will take place, Thursday will see a new developer diary and Friday will see community update blogs, telling the community what has been happening, what the developer is working and what content is coming to the game in the coming weeks.
