A great weekend of VALORANT esports action has concluded with G2 esports claiming the title of the best team in Europe. In the Grand Final of the WePlay! VALORANT Invitational, a tournament in the Riot Games' Ignition Series, G2 esports beat the Brits of fish123 in two maps, taking home $25,000 (~£22,000).

G2 took an early lead on the first map Bind with a score of 10-3. The team around Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom fought back valiantly, closing the score back to 10-9 but eventually succumbing to the pressure of G2. Patryk "paTiTek" Fabrowski and David "davidp" Prins shared the top fragging position for G2 at 19 Kills while Dom "soulcas" Sulcas scored 20 Kills for fish123 on Raze.

On the second map Ascent, which G2 esports historically has been unbeaten on, the match remained close for a long time until G2 got onto their defence. Cool as a cucumber, Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks made all the difference in high-pressure situations, remaining clutch throughout the map.

For fish123, it's back to the drawing board as the team had to rattle their roles around and found great success, but not enough to crack G2 yet. Team captain Adam "ec1s" Eccles performed well throughout the tournament while slotting into the Operator role, though couldn't find his form in the grand final.

After G2's victory at the Vitality European Open last week, there's little doubt who the best team in Europe is at the moment. They have beaten every opponent that has been put in front of them and rarely had to break a sweat. Stand-in extraordinaire davidP has made a great case to be the last remaining member for this yet to be completed G2 line-up, coming up big throughout the entire week.
