Warzone To Get Anti-Cheat And A New Map Tied To Call Of Duty Vanguard Update
Finally and arguably long overdue! According to an Activision Press release, Raven Software is looking to implement a dedicated anti-cheat for its battle royale smash-hit Call of Duty: Warzone. The developer has also revealed that it's working on a brand-new map for Warzone, likely to be more than just a re-imagined version of its current home, Verdansk.
It stands to reason that the setting is also departing to a World War II timeline, much like the new CoD title. Closely tied to the new Call of Duty: Vanguard which launches on November 5th, systems such as weapons and operators will seamlessly transition between the two titles. Most excitingly, both games will feature a large amount of free game updates post-launch, featuring new content such as fresh modes, playlists, and maps as well as limited time and seasonal events and more.
With this, Raven Software reacted to an overwhelming amount of community feedback due to an onslaught of cheaters using various types of hacks such as aimbots and wallhacks to gain an unfair advantage, which had plagued Warzone since its inception. In recent months, it had arguably become a more significant problem, with more and more lobbies being affected by cheats. Previously, Raven Software had tried to manage the issue manually, with several ban waves of varying sizes trying to get a handle on the problem but ultimately succumbing to the sheer amount of hackers.
The information had been released to the public in tandem with a launch event in Call of Duty: Warzone which saw players team up in a scenario against a giant German war engine travelling around the trails of Verdansk. Gunning for the turrets mounted on the train, players had to cooperate to take down the full train wagon by wagon to ultimately unlock the closing cinematic revealing the launch date of Call of Duty: Vanguard. Overall the scenario was received as a little underwhelming without much engaging game play in the way of the information and long queue times to even get to play the event.
