27... 16... 9... 3... "The numbers, Mason. What do they mean?" It's a question that has riddled the Call of Duty protagonists since Black Ops 1 was released in 2010, but the answer is plain and simple:

The decreasing number of hours it takes per season for Warzone players to get bored of Verdansk, Mason. That's what they mean.

It's tedious, drab, and has long since served its purpose, despite being a veteran map that will go down in Call of Duty history for reigniting the franchise. But, it's time to go Verdansk, and Warzone Season 6 is the beginning of its end.

By definition, Vanguard means a group of people leading the way in new development, and typical of its meaning, the next Call of Duty is set to whisk us away to the Pacific, filled with bright seafronts, tropical forests, and erupting volcanoes, with a new Warzone map. But the transition will be reflected in the story of Warzone, and won't simply be added because Captain Price fancies taking a Bahamas-esque holiday. Instead, it will be a promised land of freedom, after Verdansk is destroyed yet again.

In a short trailer for Warzone Season 6, it appears that Verdansk will perish for the final time, and no time machine will whizz us back to a post-WWII Superstore. During the numbers struggle with Adler and David Mason, Black Ops Cold War antagonist Vikhor "Stitch" Kuzmin has seemingly doomed Verdansk, as the ground beneath Stadium and Downtown has erupted and crumbled.

From 1:35 onwards in the trailer, fans can see the 1984 construction of Stadium completely collapse as an underground pathway collapses at the hands of Stitch.

The surrounding areas, houses and skyscrapers then completely collapsed around it, leaving Season 6 to be played in a destruction site.

It's yet to be known to what extent Downtown has been destroyed, although here's to hoping that the snipers' paradise that is Nakatomi Plaza will be reduced to a pile of rubble - yet again, we all know how the rock climbing works in this game. The lesser of two evils.

Warzone Season 6 will kick off on October 7, where the map changes will come into play alongside a familiar operator and some brand-new weapons.
