Call Of Duty: Warzone Players Hate 'Rip Off' Operator Skin
There are more Warzone worries, as the Call of Duty favourite has been slammed for introducing a "rip off" Ultra Operator skin. Microtransactions are a huge portion of CoD's profits, and as Activision continues to make a small fortune, it's constantly looking for more ways to make a pretty penny.
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 introduced its first-ever Ultra Operator skin, with the super-rare Iridescent Jackal Operator Skin adding a "mesmerizing light pattern" to the brutal mercenary leader. Season 4 has now introduced the "Magma Fury" Ultra skin bundle. It's supposed to light a fire beneath Roman “Knight” Gray, however, players are less than impressed.
Why is the Warzone Ultra Operator asking being called a 'rip off'?
Posting on Reddit, one disgruntled player called out the Magma Fury Operator skin and called it a "rip off". In the run-up to the skin's release, it was hyped as a reactive skin that would glow bright orange in-game with some fiery graphics. As the post shows, it's not quite the same - with the Knight skin being an underwhelming addition to your wardrobe.
The OP wasn't alone in their thoughts, with others sharing similar sentiments that it's not worth spending money on. Others questioned why someone would even bother spending money on a skin, considering they're only a cosmetic makeover. Then again, it hasn't stopped Fortnite skins like The Suicide Squad crossover getting plenty of buzz.
Discussing the rip off Warzone Ultra Operator skin, one redditor wrote, "Surefire way to not get ripped off? Don’t pay for useless cosmetics", while another added, "When you get the wish.com version of the skin you bought". A third simply concluded, "I honestly don't care when people buy skins, to each their own. but this skin? Why would anyone with eyes buy this skin??"
Personally, our favourite comment was, "You look like the Juggernaut's d*ck with a fire STD", which is a hilarious comparison to the infamous X-Men villain that Vinnie Jones played in X-Men: The Last Stand and was rebooted for Deadpool 2.
Will Activision change the Ultra Operator Skin?
Sadly, if you spent your 2,400 Warzone pointed for the Magma Fury Ultra Operator skin, you're probably going to have to put up with looking like a budget Juggernaut. The dev team has been known to change troublesome skins in the past, but at the end of the day, this Knight variant isn't that bad.
You might remember the drama of the Rozlin "Roze" Helms skin being accused of being pay-to-win. The Roze skin's all-black aesthetic meant it was easy for players to lurk in the dark and snipe rivals from the shadows. More recently, there was the Portnova skin being dubbed Roze 2.0 for a similar reason.
For those who've bought Magma Fury Ultra Operator skin, you'll have to stick to ranting on the internet and spouting more fire than the actual skin itself.
