Call of Duty has a strong and excitable community, but it hasn’t exactly built a reputation as a particularly wholesome one.

We all remember the sorry state of in-game lobbies during the Modern Warfare 2 era - with 12-year-olds bellowing slurs down their cheap microphones at you should you have the audacity to get shot. Many have retrospectively described these lobbies as "character building", but maybe that’s just a response to its traumatic nature.

Call of Duty fans aren’t known for being kind, is the point - and one professional player has gotten himself in hot water by proving that maybe the stereotype isn’t exactly that far off.

Warzone Pro Harasses Female Streamer

In a series of tweets by Twitch streamer SenseiSwishem, she revealed she has been on the receiving end of a long string of harassing messages and comments by Warzone pro, Chandler "ClutchBelk" Belk.

Swish first alluded to the interactions in a tweet where she didn't mention him by name, before coming forward with a Twitter thread revealing Belk’s messages and comments while live on Twitch.

She said that he initially came after her in Discord with a series of messages, before revealing that he couldn’t keep himself from talking about her live on his Twitch channel.

By talking about her so much on his stream, inadvertently or not, ClutchBelk directed a lot of hate Swishem’s way during a Warzone tourney. He started by making pointed comments, calling her a "stupid-ass p***y" after taking her out in-game, and his fans sounded off in the chat, mentioning that they took the fight straight to her Twitch chat.

He also continued to make sexist remarks to other female players, being killed by streamer QueenShadows, commenting that she makes "nice shots" before he realised who it was that killed him, then added, "Yeah, sit up there like a good b**ch".

It’s a shame that some pros in the Call of Duty scene continue to perpetuate the stereotype of sexist players, and more than a little concerning that so many people in his chat were willing to harass Swishem further.

Fingers crossed something can be done to keep this from happening again - and that Belk thinks twice before speaking up next time. As for Swishem, here's hoping she's left alone now.
